eventually your strokes should be come very light, hardly any downward pressure from you. usually that is what many people don' t do - if that' s not the case with you, i ' m not sure what to tell you. I use DMT stones, haven' t tried their stone. another good thing to finish with is a leather strop but even without that you should be able to cut paper. You have to hold the blade at an angle to the paper you are cutting. sometimes a head might take me longer than the one before but as long as i keep the strokes very very light and keep at it, it' ll get there in a few minutes. well those are just my thoughts. if you like the design you might want to try snuffers or wensel woodsmans, some people think they are easier to sharpen.

Those heads seem to be pretty good heads. I can get 6 magnus' for about the price of 2 montec' s. I' d probably try them if they weren' t so expensive, athough I doubt I' d be gaining anything.

Thanks Shaky, I will follow your instructions and see what happens. I think I' ve probably been a little heavy handed. How much pressure and how many strokes on the leather?

i have a very fine DMT stone so i don' t use a strop but from those who do they usually say just a few strokes on each flat side should take some of the burrs off. thats what i do on my very fine stone and it just gives you a little cleaner edge I would say. Even without doing this it would be fine to hunt with if you do the rest of the sharpening right. I' m still learning too and had to read alot and ask alot of questions but my sharpening has gotten pretty good now. lighter is definitely better in my book. good luck.

i like to take a ' dull' montec or snuffer and take a replaceable blade head that is brand new and mount them on your arrows and pull some heavy rug or denim over them, see people ' s draws drop - cut on contact just gives me alot of confidence that i have the best penetrating head style with a good size hole and a strong tip.

I bought a tube of these and have been doing some of my own testing. (Not near as extensive as 5 Shots) So far I' m very pleased with the way they fly. I shoot the 125 grain heads and have resharpened them. I don' t think you' ll get them as sharp as an old straight razor, because of the heavy blades along with the angle of the edge, but I' m confident they will cut clear through any critter I come across.

I am actually on the G5 Broadhead Pro Staff, these broadheads are awesome. They give me all that I would want from a broadhead.
I like the Design and structure of them also ;)

Hey Brandon, Tell me how to get these g5' s sharp. I have followed your instructions over and over and I can' t cut anything. I am sitting here with 3 tubes and I' m stumped and confused and hesitant about using them in the field.

Spent some time this morning sharpening my G5 so you could indeed shave paper with it. I had to sharpen each blade individually, not like they show on their web sight. Although I would recommend following their instructions because I' d rather cut venison than paper!. The angle of the broadhead is such that it will be plenty sharp when shot through a deer. If you don' t have a diamond stone, your wasting your time trying to sharpen anything...In My Humble Opinion! You could purchase their sharpener and use it on all your knives too! Hope this helps. Actually, if it shoots to the point of aim, its far better than the replaceable razorblade type. But each to his own.
