I have three vertical pins at 20,30,40. Works for me. I did shoot a Keller pendulum for maybe 10 years and it work like a charm under most circumstances.

1 pin with marks on my site tape for 20, 30, 40, and 50. I started sighting in at 60 but had to quit before I got her dialed in. When I hunt, its locked down at 25 and I limit my shots out to about 30.

I think one of the best ways to become a better shot is to practice at farther ranges. I practice shooting out to 70 and 80 yards and farther.. but i wont take a shot on game past 60. Set your pins ten yards apart, 20, 30, 40..etc shoot at targets farther away and that way when you shoot at 20 you'll be more accurate. Besides.. you should be hitting game at 10 yards using your 20 yard pin just fine!

On a 4 pin sight my bottom pin is set at 50. I like to practice at 40 and 50 yards because it makes all the more dead on for closer ranges. And if I ever have to I feel confident in taking a longer shot, as long as there isn't a bunch of junk in the way.

i have 4 pins set at 25, 35, 45, 55. 25 and under is pretty flat, and while i'd almost never let one fly at a whitetail at that distance if you practice longer those average bow shots of 20 yards sure seem close...

Got a cousin just got a 7-pin sight and sighted his in I think at 7,20,30,40,50,60,80 yards, and would gladly take a 90 yard shot at a deer. I got 4 pins at 20,30, and 40 yards for hunting and I think the last one is at 60 yards for fun. If it's more than 40 yards out, I'll think twice about taking a shot since I kind of believe in the ethics of accurate shot placement and clean, quick kills and whatnot. Plus I don't usually set up to bowhunt over open fields

One pin and I use it out to 35 yds. Closer I hold a bit low and at 35 I hold a bit high. I usually hunt swamps and thicker areas with shot limits at around 25 to 30 yds so the one pin works well. I never hunt the fields anymore.

My five pins are set at 25, 40, 50, 60 and 70. I hunt with the 25 yard pin and the rest are for target practice only (unless I decide to take a 40+ yard hunting shot someday). I enjoy practicing at 60 - 80 yards. It makes the hunting yardages seem like a slam dunk.

20,30,40. Anymore than three pins gets confusing. I know my holdover at 50 and I can't see shooting past there (I probably couldn't see it anyway).

I am comfortable shooting up to 40 yds.
