2 of my 2009 deer
I am finaly getting around posting these Pic's
From a hunt Oct 18
I have this nice creek crossing that has produced before
Around 5:30 I see 2 does and 3 yearlings coming my way
It looked like the lead doe was going to cross a narrow shooting lane , only 18" wide
But only 10 yds from my stand
So I got ready
After a few min I see a decent deer , that I figured was the doe
Perfict quarting away shot
Put the arrow exactly where I wanted and the deer walked tward the creek
I then realized I had shot a big yearling
It only went 10 yds -15 and beded down next to the creek and soon was dead
I quickly climbed down
Stuck my tag on it
I was about to drag it away when I heard deer behind me
So I got back up
Grabbed another arrow and looked
Sure enough
Here comes a doe and she is limping badly
She walks down the same path
Same results and the arrows were about 12" apart stuck in the ground when I went to pick them up
Expect my shot was a touch farther back
She ran 30 - 40 yds
It took me a few min to find the blood trail
But then it was a easy track
Taged her and drug her up to the tree stand
Walked the 300 yds to my truck and drove over , right next to the doe
The reason the doe was limping
She had lost one of her rear feet at the anckle
But she was fat and still making milk Sorry about the pic's
Cheap camera and I couldn't get the flash to work tonight
BTW I was shooting 3 blade Rage heads out of a old Bear White Tail 2 , with Cabela's carbon arrows
John
Of the missing foot , missing just below the knee
