Default Running out of information?

Maybe I' m just been stupid but does anybody else think the hunting magazines and tv shows are just giving us the same " tips" over and over but just rewording them, it seems like every time i watch a hunting show everything they say is so redundant, and so are the magazines ive stopped buyin them actually

i think id ratehr come to one of these boards and compare thoughts about hunting with real hunters and real experiences,

Not only are most TV hunting shows and magazines redundant, the themes are always very narrow considering the broad aspect of hunting that actually exists, and the content is mostly: " Let me tell you a story about me and my hunt."

Truthfully, I am tired and bored hearing about and reading about the big buck kills, P&Y, arguments about who shot a record buck, tines, etc.

I would have to agree with you on the magazines....every article has
" Stand Placement" and " how to hunt the wind" Granted, they are without a doubt two very important aspects in harvesting a deer, but i would have to agree with you that i would like to see something new. I still love watching the videos and will watch any bowhunting video i can get my hands on! IMHO, this board and all the people on it will teach you the same, if not much more, than any bowhunting magazine.......thanks guys!

i kinda agree. sometimes a magazine will give me a new idea but mostly its the same thing i have already read or already know about. i still watch the shows and read the magazines because for me it keeps my head in the game. and i definitaly agree with you about these forums. lots of info and ideas from everyday hunters who are' nt endorsing a product or something.

The only thing I learn from the Mags is what company has the biggest Advertisement budget.

What can you really expect from all these magazines and movies and shows. There' s only so much they can say about hunting. You may read the same type of articles over and over again, but maybe each article holds one tiny bit of information that you never knew. That little tip or tactic could be just what you need to harvest that trophy come season. The forum is definately the best place to get tips or advice but still, give the magazines and shows a break. They don' t know everything.

For the most part you all are right when it comes to hunting mags, but fishing mags are a different story, a friend of mine kept years of old field and streams and he would reread the old ones every once in a while. Well he called me and said we were going small mouth fishing because they were spawning and he had just read a 15 year old article about how great the smallmouth ran in a river/creek within 40 miles of us! Man we killed them.

Just about every magazine you open up and read is advertisement from front to back. It has gotten to the point everytime you watch a video some of the magazine writers are on it hunting and they are hunting on perserves and or high fence ranches, but when you read the article in the mag they leave out the part about the guide setting them up for the kill and then starts the advertisement. I pulled back brand X bow, sent brand X arrow tipped with brand X broadhead, and on and on.... I want to clear this up before I go any futhure, I never said nor do I intend to say that I am referring to all writers and all magazines. The guys have sponsors and I am sure that if I were sponsored by someone I would keep the money coming by telling everyone their product is the best and you can not take game without brand X. I want to read unbiased articles where it does not matter what bow killed the animal. I' m not going to buy a bow because John Doe in a mag. said its the best.
I thought I new alot about archery gear and archery in general until I started looking at these forums. I the last three months I have learned more from you guys sharing your ideas and view than I have learn from 10 years of magazines and videos. Thank you all for sharing your experiences. It has helped me and many more.
