the 2 heads i had questionable results with are the original blood trailer pucketts. and more recently the 2 blade open on impact gators. with the gator had a well placed shot with no blood at all only some on the arrow. from what i have learned now it seems some angles can cause the blade to open uneven.

Our local shop owner had over 50 mounts on the wall. Only 3 were killed with fixed blade heads. Even his African mounts were killed with mechs! Granted he is a profesional hunter and practices way more than mortal men. I think he can hit a rolling tenis ball at 40 yards. He is a big Mech. user and preacher. He preaches shot placement, speed and practice. I have never had a mech. fail on me. I have always gotten pass thoughts with my 75gr jack-hammers. One of my good friends did loose a mulie one year though. I witnessed the shot. It was 20 yards, broadside, but at a steep angle down. The arrow struck high lung and did not pass though (75gr jack-hammer with alu arrow about 265fps). We had good blood for 150 yards and then nothing. Can' t say what happend here except that there was a lack of penitration. It was not the best shot placement either. Combo effect? I was acctually up canyon watching this though my binocs when I saw the arrow impact the buck, and then the shaft " whiped" up as to look like it was flipping over the deers back. He ran right at me and turned about 30 yards away. It was deffinatelly a high shot.

The rocket miniblasters i tried were very fragile and didnt penetrtate too well. never did find the deer either. I feel if fixed heads fly good why use a mechanical.

Been shooting Vortex Mini Maxes for 7 or 8 seasons and have yet for them to fail. They make a huge hole and great blood trails.

I' ve been using Rocket Hammerheads for the past four years and never had a problem. As long as I have used them I have had excellent penetration, accuracy,& major damage to its intended victim. I think they are great, I will use them for a long time.
