Wild story. I can't imagine what it would have been like if you would have had to defend yourself against an animal of that caliber. Could have turned out dismally for you. Good thing your man scream worked to alert him something was amiss.

I can relate to the setting very well. Descriptions of the setting very vivid and similar to what I'm sure many bowhunters experience every fall as they enjoy that special time of year when autumn displays it's magnificence.

I am a true believer in dominant buck urine drawing the attention of the monster bucks that may inhabit a property. I've used scents for years and only once when I put out dominant buck urine one evening did it cause a monstrous buck to come in after I freshened them up the following morning. Funny thing was I was desperate to get Tinks 69 for my hunt that cold, November, Saturday morning when I found out the store was all sold out of it.

The clerk asked me "do you want get a big buck really mad?" I was like "uh, yeah" thinking that's why I'm here, genius. I was a little disappointed after finding out I was too late in getting to the store to get what I really wanted. I took the clerk's advice and purchased Ben Lee's dominant buck urine. Went home and made a couple scent bombs. Put my dog in the truck with me and we headed out to the woods where I was going to hunt. Walked to my stand spot and hung the bombs and poured the dominant buck urine in them. The following morning I freshened them up and after about an hour passed I heard what I thought was some dude walking up behind me. I was thinking who is walking through the woods making all this noise and messing up my hunt? So I turned my head real slowly to see who it was and lo and behold it was a ginormous buck who looked at me 12 feet off the ground in a lock on stand for a minute and then proceeded to come and stick his nose in my scent bombs. Biggest buck I have ever seen while bowhunting. His rack may have been over 12 points with big, thick mass.

After picking my jaw up off the ground I drew back and shot resulting in a complete miss. He eventually ran off. I thought back to my circumstances the prior evening and thought how foolish I was to think I was getting a raw deal "settling" for dominate buck urine.
