How many use a Spot-Hogg for hunting?
#1
Just put a new Spot-Hogg sight on my Patriot today,
but I haven' t had a chance to shoot with it yet. The pins
are .029 and are much smaller than the pins on
my Montana Black Gold sights...I' m glad I didn' t
get the .019 pins[
], I know I' d never use them
for hunting.
Great looking sight, but it' s not gonna do much good
if I can' t see my pins at " deer thirty" [:@]. I' ll
find out more when I have a chance to shoot
at twilight, however, I' d like some feedback from
some of you Spot-Hogg hunters.

Two Beards,
I use a Sure-Thing with .019 pins for 3D and hunting. The .019 pins work great IMHO. They have always been lit up to aim with past the time anyone should shoot at a deer. Meaning I' ve seen my pins when only a faint black silloughet (sp) was walking within bow range. I don' t shoot at those thank you. All in all, the .019 pins work great for me. I use the yellow for 20, green for 30, and red for 40. The red disappears before green and yellow at dark. But folks eyes are different, so what one does doesn' t work for the other.

I love my Real Deal sight. As far as seeing in low light, it' s like all the other fiber sights I' ve shot. As far as quality, nothing comes close. I only use 3 pins and put the yellow on top for my 20 yard pin. The yellow seems to stand out the best in low light conditions. You' ll be amazed how that white pin guard ring stands out in low light conditions even when using a peep. Check out my post and pics from Monday.

btomlin, I compared the pins from my Spot-Hogg with
both of my MBG sights and they are definitely
smaller. The package I got my SH in has .029 on it,
but they' re the smallest pins I' ve ever seen. I' m
heading to the bow shop tomorrow and will see if
I can get things figured out.

For the past 3 years I have used the Hog-It sights with .019 pins for elk with no problems. I use only the green fiber optic pins as they show up better in low light. I can see my pins when i could not see if an animal had horns or not.

If you push the pin towards you until it gets a little outside the last keeper and melt it back a little it' ll be brighter. It' s best to take the pin out of the sight to do this. Nothing comapres to the Spot Hog for durability and I can see mine fine in low light.
