Which do you do.....

1. Center your yardage pin in your peep?
2. Align your peep with the sight ring and aim the pin?

I've only been shooting a bow for a couple years, and was never "officially" instructed. I use #1. The few people I've asked all use #1 as well. My question comes, because I see all these sights that have these bright orange (or whatever color) rings and it would make sense to align that ring with my peep and just aim the pin. It seems like it would keep things more consistent. Please provide your thoughts on what you use and why. Thanks!

You can do ether just make sure and do it the same every time. Personally I match my peep and my sight ring.

Try it out at low light conditions and you'll find your answer easy enough...

i use #2. I hunt in very low light conditions and have not had a problem as of yet. My brother uses #1 and he has not had any problems either. It is which ever you feel more comfortable with.

I guess it would depend on your peep opening vs your sight ring.

I make sure my super peep has the aperture that fits just around the outside of my sight, and aim the pin.

I have a single pin pendulum sight so #1 is also #2 for me....

but like BbearFax else said...either will work so long as you are doing the same thing each time.

thanks everybody! i have a cheaper sight that kind of looks like a reverse D, so i never thought too much about how to do it until i started searching for a new sight. i'm definitely going to try #2 this off-season. it seems like it would be more consistent and i think i understand the low-light advantage.
