I'm originally from Malone and have hunted that area for 20+ years but have also hunted areas around the St. Regis canow, Tupper, Saranac, and Placid, unless you hunt the Mountains year after year it is a difficult style to learn they are not like the farm bucks in the southern part of the state that is certain. There are great areas where you can go in that area but most mountain hunters will be reluctant to point out the honey hole they get the monster in year after year. All I can say is be mobile, walk slow, and try to find food sources whether it's beech nut's or a old apple orchards this time of year that will be the draw. Good luck and have some fun enjoying the scenery.
