Default bummed out

Hello its been awhile since ive been on here but had to share my grief. had the buck of my life at less than 10 yards but he came in facing me. 140ish eight point with 12 to 14 inch g2s. beautiful deer. had a spine shot and that was it. I could not bring myself to take that chance. Would any of you have taken the shot or not ? please tell me your honest opinions.

cool thing is i already have trail cam pics of him in velvet and have them on my phone screensaver. been drooling on my phone for months so i think that made the right decision very hard to make. the landowner is a good friend and hunter also and if i were to lose that deer to a poor decision i wouldnt be able to look him in the eye again and told him so. thanks starting to feel a litttle better but definitly DID NOT SLEEP LAST NIGHT.

You made the right choice by not taking the shot!

I spine shot is very low percentage. You made the right choice. There are definately a fair amount of guys who would have forced the issue and taken a marginal shot. Props to you for holding off.

That is what ethical hunters do! They don't take shots that are not high percentage shots. I know that it is eating you up but you did the right thing!

You did the right thing, it will pay off in the long run. Keep doing your homework on him and he will return..Know where he lives, (ex. where he enters the feild and exits), knowing the little things like that about your deer help..Good luck with him and i am looking forward to seeing those GLORY pics..

GOOD LUCK
