Default Correct me if I am wrong but.........updated))))

We were all wrong.........the reason this happened was the dealer put the bow in the press to replace the string and backed off the limbs 3 to 4 turns. This is required per the manufacturer, well each turn is 3 to 4 lbs. Well, when the dealer pulled it out of the press he did not put the turns back in. I was shooting a 60-70 lbs bow at 54 lbs when it was returned the first time. I did not notice it I guess due to this bow being 80% let off and my other bow being 65%. I did comment to my son that the bow seemed alot easier to pull and hold on target than my TRX, geeee imagine why)))).

Anyways, Bear archery called the dealer and MADE the dealer send me a brand new bow. Shot it 20 times and inspected it carefully after each shot, so far so good. Now I just need to shoot and shoot and shoot some more to get it dialed in.

Guys/Gals, take a look at these pictures. It appears that my string on my "Done Deal" has some serious stretch going on. A little background, I had to send the bow back do to the serving breaking apart.

I was told when I recieved the bow back they had rebuilt/replaced the entire string. Now correct me if I am wrong but string stetch for this type bow is usually due to the string not matched to the proper ATA size of the bow?

This has been my experience in the past with friends bows who had the same problem.

Opinions please on this problem?

Thanks,
Dave

Looks more like you have a couple broken strands rather than string creep.

Yeah, I would think a couple broken strands or some really poor workmanship from whoever built the string/cables.

That's just an example of a crappy string. You need a different supplier.

Even quality string builders will have a strand break every now and then.If it is just 1 strand cut it and don't worry but if it is 2,replace it.Not sure if the 2nd strand is broke or not, might just need some twist.

But it does look like there is 2 strands broke and it needs to be replaced.

It could be a broken strand or two or it could simply be that when building the string that one trip around the posts wasn't made as tight as the others and you get a loose stand on each side of the post. When the string is served and finished your pic is usually what you see.

Thanks for the reply guys. I gave a little tug on the strands and they are not pulling through the serving. Either way I am not going to shoot it anymore. Not in the mood to dodge flying strings etc etc when this thing explodes)))).

I will send it back "AGAIN" and request it be repaired. Thank goodness I have my old bow setup and ready to go. This just reiterates the point to the wife why I have always had a backup bow ready to hunt with.

Who ever is making your yokes is not anchoring them. You either broke a few strands on the yoke or a few have broke lose. If you have the equipment. Mark your cam, put the bow in a press, remove the yoke and reanchor it or make a new string. If you do not have the equipment to make one yourself, take it to a proshop for them to press it and rebuild the yoke or a new string, relative to the problem. Its a pretty easy fix.

Just an FYI. I called Bear and they asked me to e-mail them the pictures. Within five minutes their customer service called me back and asked which dealer/pro shop I bought the bow from? Bear archery is going to send them a new cable and string. They also are going to pay for next day shipping of my bow from me to the dealer and then back to me.

Guess I can not ask for better customer service than that.
