can we take a vote here please?

There seems to be a disagreement in the topic" P&Y and 65% letoff.
there' s a few that say a 75-80% letoff bow is no difference than a xbow.
could we take a vote from each member to see how many beleive this to be true?
would everbody please vote YES if they agree with this, and NO if they don' t please? thank you. :D

RE: can we take a vote here please?

no, i use a 75% letoff because i have bad shoulders ,if i didn' t have bad shoulders, i' d be able to hold at full draw alot longer!!thats the difference to me that and the fact that if they didn' t have higher letoffs i' d have to shoot a lighter bow heck its 55lbs now thats light enough!

RE: can we take a vote here please?

NO!! I think that there is a big difference. You still have to be able to draw the bow while the deer is close without being detected. With the x-bow all you have to do is pull the trigger. I am not saying that x-bows are wrong, just that there is a difference in the 2.

RE: can we take a vote here please?

No! There is a major difference between a xbow and a 80% let off bow. I dont even see the simularity. maybe since there both shoot arrows. Xbows are more like a gun. Not that xbows are bad, i have shot one before, there kind of fun. But they arent the same. I think P&Y should raise they letoff to 75 or 80%

RE: can we take a vote here please?

No comparison. Crossbow is more like a gun than a bow. Still have to draw a bow, hold it (regardless of let-off), etc. Also much harder to aim a bow than a crossbow, IMHO.

RE: can we take a vote here please?

Yes, compound shooters are inferior to stick bow shooters.[:o] Compounds that have more than 65% let-off (because that' s what I shoot;)) are just like shooting high powered rifles[:o][X(]:([&:]

Seriously NO! I have never had to worry about how I gripped a crossbow or whether or not my anchor was correct etc. That' s a bunch of garbage.

RE: can we take a vote here please?

No, they are not the same. I' ve had numerous shoulder surgerys and back surgerys and gave serious thought of getting a cross bow. I shot a Ten Point Stealth several times and it was a breeze to shoot. Put a scope on these and you can hit just about anything within 50 yards. But they are LOUD. If you' ve ever been around anyone who dry fired his compound bow, the sounds are comparable. As far as folks saying its like a gun, I' d have to disagree. The " bolt" can easily be deflected by twigs and it drifts in wind like an arrow. It might be comparable to an old fashioned muzzle loader (not the modern in-lines) as long as the target is within the 50 yard limit. I would like to have one someday when my ship comes in, but the high end crossbows are as expensive as a new Mathews LX. Who knows, I' m still buying those lottery tickets.:D

RE: can we take a vote here please?

no i think pope and young should have stick bow and compound seperated to two differant classes. 65percent letoff is no differant than 80 percent.but 65 percent to no letoff is a big differants this is my pet peev.

No.

You can lay down in a beanfield that the deer are feeding in every evening. With a crossbow you can shoot from a prone position, the deer will be sitting ducks.

It is very hard to shoot a bow while laying flat on the ground.

RE: can we take a vote here please?

NO No comparison. I shoot 75% and it is still hard to hold at full draw for more than a minute or so. Sometimes it is necessary to hold until the shot presents itself.

RE: can we take a vote here please?

No! A " hand-held" can never imitate a X-bow, no matter what the let-off is.
