well i do not want holes and cranks for the blood to sit in and become un sanitary There is a reason we are told not to cut meat on a wood cutting board. Then the issues of wood and the weather and such.
I know this wont be buying the remington i had last year out the box it would not cut my arm if i tried. I gave it to my brothers girl's brother for helping me out on a project. Thing sucked.

Buy a Buck knife the are the best for the money. Plus they are a christian based company and gives back to other christans.

What buck knife do you recommend. I was looking at the alpha hunter camo. Looks like a goos knife. How hard are the curved gut hook knife to sharpen.

Why would the holes in the handle bother you?

It's tough to beat the edge you "can" put on a Buck knife. I've been carrying the same Buck personal for years and it does a fine job. I'm sure I could gut a cord of deer with it but I don't mind sharpening it between kills.
I've got better knives but I guess I just end up leaving them at home. You grow attached to the blade you favor.

I have a case knife that has held up too many gut jobs.
I would also recommend a barber strop for the best finished edge.

I have found that the Leatherman Supertool is the best tool that I have used...I keep the main blade razor sharp and use the saw blade to split the hip...it is more like doing surgery on the deer than many cases I have seen with others...seldom get blood on anything but my hands...

I have several knives, but my Fave is my Schrade Uncle Henry. I've had it for about 15 years, and plan to keep it another 15.
