This thread seems to pop up every year.... Get ready for some entertainment!

38 is my longest successful shot. It was a doe and she went down in 30 yards. I attempted a 42 yard shot one time and missed clean.... biggest buck I have ever seen.

Most deer I have shot were between 15-25 yards (I'd say 30 or so.) A few i have shot closer than 15, but didn't like those any more than the ones over 30. I like a 20 yard shot...

never taken a shot longer than 30 yards.. never had to... I've hunted heavy woods all my life until I moved to Nevada. Now everything is way out there, better start practicing!

I see most of you are about like me somewhere between 20-30 yds. typically, I did miss a doe @ 9 yds. I really admire those who are confident enough to have kills longer than 40 yds. I know the longer shots are condidered unethical by some, but if you can drop em at 50 or 60 yrds. I say go ahead!

Ive shot a few hogs out to 50+ yards with compounds. My longest pin is a 50 yrd pin. On my longest shots, I have aimed high so I can only assume between 50-60 yrds.

As for a longbow or recurve, its in the 25yrd and below range . I will not shot a long bow or recurve beyond that distance, but have made many kills out to that range.

I have found it is of great benefit if you practice out as far as you can. It will make you use good form. Which will translate into better shots up at closer ranges. It will also help with increasing your confidence range.

I took one deer at 41yds, but 95% of my shots are under 25...and ideally under 20.

My logest shot was 34 yards. My average shot is 20 to 25 yards. I usually do not have those long shots where I hunt.

34 yards, quartering away with no brush, limbs or wind.

4 deer around 50 yards, 1 Elk at 45 yards and one at 84 yards. He ran 60 yards before piling up.

I would limit myself to around 50 yards anymore the eyes just aren't what they used to be.
