RE: P&Y and 65% let off?

I use the 65% let off because I like it and shoot it better, just my choice. I' ve taken several animals that could be in the book, they aren' t, again just my choice. No problem with the organization, just can' t see paying to have my name on page such & such of " the book" .

Are old (2001) 70% let off bows grandfathered in or are they now illegal to P&Y standards.

Thanks,
jt

theres a big differants between 65 and 80 percent letoff pooe. i see no differants i started with a stick bow went to a 50 persent letoff thats a differants. as far as 65 to 80 big deal. the people trying to keep it at 65 for what reason i don' t no is probaly because they took theres with a stick bow. a bows a bow as far as promoting archery i think its the hunters themselves and most don' t belong to no gloat club.

Bottom line is if you can' t play by the rules then you don' t play, quite simple. These rules are put here for everyone, NO EXCEPTIONS.
T-fox, I never said that handicapp individuals shouldn' t be denied a P/Y. If they choose to hunt in a different catogory with a crossbow, then so be it, thats why they make Boone/Crockett, buckmasters, both of these have different critera for registering a trophy or deer.
Mathewsbow1, NOPE, you cannot get grandfathered in, nice try though, if you shoot a 70%, the secret is to not pull back on your arrow to full draw and you should fit within these guidelines.
Since I am a trophy white-tail hunter, I made sure my bow and equipement are state and P/Y legal. I am not about to lose out on a technicality if the state record comes by.

I have shot several animals that qualify for P&Y and there isn' t a 1 of them in there.......do yourself a favor and save your money.

WOW! Some people really don`t like P&Y, do they.

A couple people have mentioned about save your money, or save up to enter an animal. How much do you guys think it costs to enter a trophy in P&Y?

$25.00 measely dollars. There goes that new house we were saving up to buy!;)

If you don`t desire to enter a trophy in P&Y, that is fantastic, but I fail to understand the animosity towards the club.

I have two whitetails that were taken with P&Y legal rigs, but I never entered them.

I do have my 65% modules for the new razortec. Who knows, maybe one of these days we will put one in there.

RE: P&Y and 65% let off?

For years I kept my bows at or below the 65% maximum let-off required by P&Y JUST SO I COULD ENTER A BUCK SCORING HIGH ENOUGH. This year I bought a new Razortec and it comes with the 75% cam and a half as standard. I could spend the time and $$$ to change the cams, but decided that the likelihood of encountering such an animal in the areas I hunt make it an unworthwhile venture. P&Y has every right to make and enforce their rules and I might change the cams if I begin seeing the bucks making some of the rubs I' ve seen!! ;)

121--- you' ve got to be kiddin ! your sayin that if I' m huntin with my 70% golden eagle splitfire, as long as I don' t come to full draw I can kill a P&Y and have him registered? I thought the rule is, your bow has to be 65% perriod.
I can' t beleive the club would go for that, shoot, I could full draw my 70% bow, and just say , yea, I' m shootin 70% but I didn' t draw my bow all the way back.[8D] if P&Y is that lenient on the letoff rule, then they should just drop the rule all together.:D

RE: P&Y and 65% let off?

Nobody has ever given me a logical answer as to why Pope and Young should change their rules according to what the manufacturers develop.

" The tool that I used to take the animal should make no differance in wether the animal gets listed or not. The record books are suppose to be about the animals and not about the hunters."

Looks like a damn good logical answer to me![:-]

And for the record , I shoot 65% letoff for the smoother draw and a little extra speed.

RE: P&Y and 65% let off?

Theve done more for bowhunting and promoting the sport than the next two orginizations combined. Its their club, their records, their rules. It always seemed to be fair enough to me. You can follow em or not follow them, but theres no reason to whine because you dont think their fair or unjust.
