Default Shooting Rockets without bands..Mech quest.

I shot a bunch of Rocket Steel heads over the last couple days and was really surprised at how well they flew without being banded. I would have NO hesitation taking a 20 yard shot with no bands although I'm not sure of any other drawbacks.

It's a very low profile small cutting head but it makes me wonder how well other mechs fly should they open in flight for some reason. Has anyone shot their mechanicals without nessessary bands just to see how they flew?
