How often do you change your "compound" bowstring?
With opener coming up fast,it`s time to decide "do I really need to change my string"
I generally wait until it`s frayed around the peepsight (which mine now is)
-give yourself enough time to stretch it out,and all the little things that go along with that.

If you shoot a lot......once a season isn't a bad rule of thumb. If you don't....every other.

If it were me....I'd order two when I ordered. Shoot one in......then hang it in my shop. Shoot the other one in and hunt with it. This way you always have a backup that's ready.

I change my string at the end of season and then again right around this time of year but I do shoot A LOT. GMMAT's idea of having a shot in back up on hand is a great idea.

I shoot quite a bit and usually change string and cables every other year.

Without seeing it, I would say it "sounds" like time for a new one. Are there strands broke? If yes, change it. If no, try to wax it and see how many shots it takes to start fraying badly again.

Also, what kind of string do you have on there? There are other reason/benefits to changing your string. A good after market string can get you some extra fps, as well as not having as many twisting/stretching issues that most stock strings have.

if it is fraying i would change it now. I would hate to have a problem with it in the middle of the season .You have time to change it and get it all tuned in. I would get one ordered soon though

Good idea to have an extra already shot in.

One would have to seriously shoot ALOT to have to change out your strings every year. I probably shoot about 10 months out of the year, keep my string well waxed and could probably go every 3 yrs....but I change them every other just to be on the safe side.
