Big lesson learned!!!!! Warning Graphic Pics

Well, I set a pack of new broadheads down on my bed after spin testing them on my arrows and neglected to make sure the were put correctly back in the package face down, instead leaving the facing up and the package opened. Fast forward to and hour later after finishing up with some shooting, wandering up to my room and proceeding to stub my toe on the edge of my bed and throwing my arm out to brace myself........ on the mattress. That equaled one long day in the ER waiting for stitches, 13 to be exact and now not being able to shoot for two weeks or lift anything heavy as this area on your forearm will stretch to tight and possibly pop the stitches. Guys, be careful with leaving these things laying around, let me be the guinea pig, learn from my lack of common sense, 5 seconds of correctly putting these things away would have saved me alot of aggravation. On a good note, I can say without a doubt that G5 makes a great broadhead that is razor sharp right out of the box:s5: Oh yeah, they fly perfect also.

Owch man. Ya peeps, please be careful with these things. They arent made out of stone anymore.
Didnt someone else on here do something similar to that a year or so ago??

cartman308 08-06-2009 03:42 AM

crokit 08-06-2009 04:13 AM

Kreagerm 08-06-2009 05:08 AM

sr77,

atleast you did not suffer any permanent damage. 13 Stitches thats not a lucky number! I would have made them give me one more

I busted up my ankle and shoulder on Monday riding a motorcycle. I have x-rays today. It is very very swollen and bruised. I hope I can heal in enough time to get some scouting/shooting in before the season.

You are right on both accounts, a very stupid and preventable thing to have happened, and extremely lucky I hit meat and not a tendon, or any of those big vains running down my forearm. Believe me, in the end, I am grateful with the result, could have been a nightmare.

SR--had a similar event happen a few days ago to me. I was working on my broadheads in the garage and left them out on dresser top. Something fell and hit the broadheads, thereby causing them to fall all over the floor. As I got done shooting my bow I walked back into the garage barefoot. I felt something under my right foot. I knew something had happened but it did not hurt that much for about 3 seconds. I then looked down and saw I had stepped directly onto a broadhead with my right heel. It cut me pretty deep and it has caused me to limp here for the past few days. Stupid me.

I happen to think that the number 13 is lucky, but that is just me. Glad to hear that you will not be down to long. Chalk your mistake up as a lesson learned and an important safety point.

I've cut some fingers up taken them off without the wrench before. But what I really want to know is....what kind of blood trail did it leave?! Glad you are ok. Hope you get back to shooting soon.

Ouch! we all have done a dumb thing or two. Take it easy, heal up and get back to shooting.

The Deer Destroyer 08-08-2009 11:28 AM

Luckily I haven't done that yet. One time I was changing mine and had one cut me but it was a minor cut. Nothing that bad lol. Worst cut I had, dealing with hunting, was with my knife and that got me 4 stitches lol

ndncreek 08-08-2009 08:29 PM

at least you know that they are sharp enough.

Trex 08-09-2009 01:55 PM
