What happened to our new proposed deer seasons?
H6) Establish a uniform deer season (matching the current Eastern Deer Season) in and east of Yancey, McDowell and Rutherford counties (WRC Districts 1-8), on private lands only, with the following structure:
• bow and arrow season opens on the Saturday on or nearest to September 10 and ends the fourth Friday thereafter;
• muzzleloader season opens the Saturday on or nearest to October 8 and ends the following Friday;
• and all lawful weapon seasons opens the Saturday on or nearest to October 15 and ends January 1.
• Bow and arrow will be allowed during the muzzleloader season.
15A NCAC 10B .0203 White-tailed Deer
Motion from Big Game Committee to modify as follows: Deer seasons in the Northwestern Deer Season will be changed so that the regular gun season is extended through January 1. Deer seasons in the Eastern, Central, and Western deer season structures will remain unchanged.

Adopted (as modified).
I looked at the maps and it said we only ran through Dec 19th here in the Northwestern season?????? Did they jerk that back off and run it back through the hoops again and get it changed?

H5) Shorten the bow season by one week and open the muzzleloader season one week earlier to create a two week muzzleloader season.

The North Carolina Bow Hunters Association got together and wrote letters to block it after it was already approved...This also knocked out crossbows for the coming season and Sunday hunting on private land with a bow...
There is a law on the books that if 10 letters are written then the General Assembly has to vote on it and they didn't before this year's regulations were passed...
I understand that if you want a crossbow in NC, now is the time to buy as dealers had stocked up and now are sitting on inventory that they will have to pay for...

Granted this day in age we need all the help we can get as hunters in the political world, cross bows put more people in the woods that normally wouldnt be there. Yes they still need tuning, yes they shoot arrows with broad heads and have roughly the same range, but in my close minded head, bow hunting is about drawing on an animal and aiming the way bows are aimed, not pre-cocked and aimed like a rifle.
To me it's all about Ford versus Chevy etc.....wouldnt hurt my feelings if they banned Chevys from the roads and we all had to drive Toyota or Ford or something like that. Snobby personal preference lol.

Guess go back to fingers...Like I said, just a snobby preference. I know it's not 'right' but you have to draw a line somewhere, right? or we would all be lumped into one season using whatever we want.
