You bet!!! Idaho has a 40# weight minimum and people shoot bear and mules with them all the time. Just like anything in bow hunting it is all about shot placement and sharp broadheads.

I hunt deer with a 48lb osage, and feel confident. I have not dropped a deer yet with it. But I am shooting a 500gr arrow at 150fps.

A modern compound at 40lb would smoke those numbers. Only thing I have over you is, I am dead quiet on the shot.

Here in IL, 40# is our minimum and it is more than capable of killing any whitetail cleanly. In fact, todays 40 lbs compounds have considerably more energy that a lot of traiditional bows that many hunters still hunt with. It's all about shot placement of a razor sharp b-head. Best of luck to your lil' youth hunter.

thanks a lot guys.. a girl friend of mine wanted to shoot my bow @ 55# and it's impossible for her considering she's only 5'2" @ 105lbs.. hahaha.. Small chick. She enjoys the outdoors a lot and i just wanna make sure she get some of the action too.

Up here in Maine the law is no less than35 lbs. So it wouldn't be any problem provided a razor sharp 7/8 inch or greaterbroadhead is used.. But as others have stated check your local laws first..

yea but you would have to check on your state regulations like here in SD you can have a min of 40 lbs. i am sure it could do the job!!
