RE: How many DART system shooters
I' ve seen this system ruin the shooting of a few people. The system conditions you to know that you have a small window to shoot and I' ve seen severe target panick develop on several shooters. Spot targets and 3D animals don' t move and real animals might give you 15 minutes to shoot. Quite a different situation from knowing that you only have a couple seconds to get the shot off for a good score.

RE: How many DART system shooters
It is a fun change of pace. I think other than the fact that it is all the same distance it is great practice. It is true that spots and 3 D targets don' t move but game animals do. They may give you 15 minutes for a shot but they may also only give you 15 seconds. I time out on a lot of the shots, don' t care what my score is or how the system scores my shot. If I make what I feel to be a good shot I' m happy. If I feel a good shot is not presented I don' t shoot. You have to take these systems for what they are IMO.

RE: How many DART system shooters
I shot it 5-6 years ago in a league. It was neat, but had the drawbacks everyone already mentioned. One thing that was a downside was the people who would shoot it 2-3 times a week before league (the same disk that we would shoot that week), so they would have all the scenarios memorized and when the shot would present itself. Or the ones who would get there early to watch the early groups shoot and memorize the scenes. Really wasn' t that competitive, because they all had the advantage over those of us who were seeing it for the first time.

RE: How many DART system shooters
I shot the dart systems years ago and always had problems with my arrows (Nitro Stingers) afterwards, They would break easily when shot into haybails, and I blamed it on the shock from the screen. But now I shoot aluminum and dont have a problem with the screen. Has anybody had problems with their arrows after shooting the screen.

RE: How many DART system shooters
Good point Mathews..... back when I shot it, we had trouble with our arrows tearing up the mat. Seems like a lot of the kill shots would always be in the same area on the screen..... which makes sense, with the animals being centered in the camera image. They would always try to patch it with epoxy, but it wouldn' t last long.
One time I had an arrow (ACC) blow through the mat, and end up lodged in the breaker panel on the back wall. Had to shut down the power to get it out. Never had it affect my arrows..... they don' t stop any faster than they would in a 3D target. |
RE: How many DART system shooters
Hey KC-IL I didnt have problems with shooting through the screen, but had problems with the screen weakening or damaging my arrows, mostly Carbon(Nitro Stingers)

RE: How many DART system shooters
I have seen the inserts come out of arrows from hitting the screen.
