ya know Don I practice at 60yds almost every day. I can only do that on one of my very best days. Heck, my eyes don't work at 65yds! At 50 I think I could do it consistantly back up from there and the group really starts to spread.

I'd be willing to bet that anyone who current can do that at 20 yards andhad an 30 minutes, 3 to 4 times a week, for a month to practice just that, could achieve it.

When I am practicing every dayI can generally shoot groups like that. Of course Ihave bad days like every one else.

Right now.... not a chance. [&:]I haven't shot in a few months.

RE: Anybody here this good of shot?

A couple years ago a few of us shot at 60 yards 1-2 times a week. At that time i was happy to get every shot in a paper plate. My .019" sight covers the plate at 60 yards, so no chance for me to do that. Nice shooting, fairly noisy bow though it seems, maybe it's just my speakers.

yes, I think I could do that again ( I shoot trad now ) ....... the bow is designed to shoot that good, its a high letoff and triggered release ....... sorry, that video doesn't wow me at all

RE: Anybody here this good of shot?

2-3/4" groups as was shown on the video is not an impossible feat @63 yards.
Nevertheless it takes a dedicated shooter and someone who will put in the hours and good form with good practice to accomplish this result.
Meaning that the guy in the video must be congratulated for his fine performance and commitment, as well as taking the time to confidently execute real good shooting!

Probably not . I don't usually shoot that far. The most i practice to is 50 yards and even then i'd be very happy if i got groups like that

I'm almost 62 years old now, but when I was his age I have to admit that, yes, I could shoot that well routinely, but with my target bow. Hunting bow as another story, but then the equipment was a little less sophisicated. That was 30+ years ago.

RE: Anybody here this good of shot?

You know, to be honest, I could do it on a good day. The thing about me as a shooter though, there are days that I would be lucky to do that at40 yards:eek: I dont know if i could do it with a hunter setup though. Im VERY used to my open class setup. I shot at 85yds the other day with my indoor lens (8power). It really brought the target in close. I shot arrows,3 were about6or7inches apart in the area i was shooting for which imo wasnt bad. I had one though that was in the corner of the bag, and all it was was a little flinch. At those distances it takes merely an inch or two of movement and you will miss completely.

HCH- I thought you were shooting an 82nd? When did you pick up the Elite's and how are you liking them?

Last year, at the baltimore trad classic Byron was shooting. I was there very early every morning because I was in one of the bow building exhibits. I was watching him warm up. he had little tricks he used. One thing it appears teh success or failure of his shot is mainly on the shoulders of the thrower, which was his wife. If she mistimed something he would miss. Also, he would use refernce points on the ground to do his famous skip shots. I am not taking anything away from the guy, as he is very gifted, and I could never achieve his shots even knowing his secrets. But his exhibits also are not exactly what you would expect. But he was a first rate cool guy to hang with.

RE: Anybody here this good of shot?

Obviously, anyone claiming to be able to shoot like that is going to get bashed...

But who cares...

I can shoot like that. Albeit, it took a lot of shooting at long range. I shot 50-70yards everyday. When I first started, I was lucky to have all of my arrows hit my block out past 60. After awhile, I could keep a basketball size groupout to60. With a ton of time behind the bow, I can now hold a softball size group at 60-70yards(occasional flyer, still hits the block, though). It takes a ton of commitment, time and over-coming frustration. ANNNNNND a few lost arrows.

RE: Anybody here this good of shot?

A few years back, I started shooting all my practice shots between 40-80 yds and then would take about 5 shotsat 20 yds. at the end of a session. Within a month I had arrows grouping like that at 60. And whoever said it above, was correct, it takes alot of time and dedication and quality practice to do it. Most dedicated archery practice I ever did and it showed big time. Last year, didn't shoot as frequently and it showed, could only shoot decent groups out to about 35-40 yds. I think most people on here would be surprised on how far they could group if they shot 6 nights a week and made every shot count(not just flingin arrows). One thing I noticed about shooting at that distance wasn't how steady you could hold the pin, but how clean my release was. To me, I think that was the most important factor.

3 arrows doesn't impress me in the least. Anyone even half decent can put together an occasional group like that at those distances. What seperates the elite level guys that are competitive on the national level from a backyard kings, is the ability to do it consistently over a high number of arrows. Let's see 20 or 30 arrows and see the number of flyers in there. Keep them all in that dot and I'd be impressed.

30 arrows in a 3" group @ 60 yards:eek: That would pretty much be like shooting 30 x's in a vegas round. Not gonna find too many that are gonna pull that off... Sounds like you can do it though.

82nd went down the road yesterday. I shot an Elite, that was all it took. I bought an 06 E-500, then an 08 GTO the other day, and am dealing on an 06 E-Force right now. I want an 07 Aigil too and am looking for a steal on a 09 GT500. I want ninja on these or AT and they sell fast and for top $. I have found an 06 E-force new at a dealer on clearance and I am hoping to get it today to add to my stable. I am looking for the rare Envy to add to, so keep your eyes open for me. Thanks.

Man, I wish some of you guys lived near me. I might be able to quit my job making some back up what they say. There is one thing doing it here and there, another in doing it on demand, and yet another doing it on demand, with the green riding on it.

I have seen some hotdog shooters in my life. Seen some that could pull this all day but when we put the green on it, they crash and burn. These are the same folks that usually can hit a skoal can at 60 yards, but consistently get bad shots on deer. And then there's the average shot who rarely ever misses the boiler room. Pressure is the key.

Thats baloney when I shot a recurve bow andI could shoot group like that and my longest bow kill was with a recurve bow. I had a 300 averageand at60 yards there was a lot of us around that could. Shooting trad. is not a excuse to shoot bad they are just as accurate as a compound bow.I'm 62 and yes I can shoot like that with my compound target bow set 65 lbsand I know a lot of archers thatcan. The video didn't do any thing for me he is a good shot, but in the last 45 year I have seen a ton of guys that shoot like that and wondered way it was a big deal.I can remember once seeing two guys on the practice range putting all there arrows inside ofa plastic coffee cupon the80 yard targetwith recurves at a national field shoot in the 70's and one of them was a finger shooter with a50 lb target bow and was pulling through a clicker and Robin Hooded one of his own arrows that day at 80 yards. Any bow is just as accurate as the archer behind it no matter if it's a recurve are compound. In the early IBO days I remember seeing a guy in the Easton eagle eye shoot off under the lightswith a long bow out shoot all the compounds, release, scopes and so onwith a long bow instinctive at long ranges.

He said trad, meaning traditional. Not a FITA recurve. There is a huge difference in the two. If one has a rest, IMO, not trad. If it has sightes, not trad, (now this is personal pref) the limbs do not have at least a wood core, not trad.

This is what brad is talking about.

I guess you didn't read this. When I was younger I could keep all my arrows in a pop can out to about 40 yards with a 65 lb recurve bow instinctive and at 30 yards you could put your finger around my 4 to 5 arrow groups. I had a high 280 average on a indoor targets instinctive, but in our club had plenty of completion in bare bow. I shot a 536 once on a 3 D shoot with 560 possible and that was at the reg stake with the compound shooters not atthewomens stakes and no 12 ring in 1982, Most of all the good shooter that I competed with are all compound shooter now. If we all had to shoot recurve bow you see a lot of great shooter surface because now they are shooting compounds. The guy in the video could possibly be one of them.
