Do you prefer a heavy bow 4# and up or a lite bow under 4# for tree stand
hunting?

Jag mag, great question, Infact i have never seen anyone ask this before. I prefer a bow that weighs under 4lb' s, infact I wont buy and have never owned a bow that weighs over 4lb' s. I quess the main reason is because i always hold my bow while hunting, i never put it down and the other reason was when i was younger we use to shoot 3-D courses 3 or 4 times in the same morning. I don' t hunt out of a tree stand any more, but I have to have a light bow for hunting in the mountains for elk and mulies. Definetly under 4 pounds and the closer to 3 pounds the better.

I never really weighed one. I think my Darton from the factory is 3+. With my stabilizer etc it' s probably over 4. It doesn' t matter as long as it doesn' t weigh 10 pounds or something. The only weights I really ever worried about are the deer and my climber.

For treestand hunting it doesn' t matter to me at all. I have a sling for the walk in and I use a leg holster for those moments leading up to a shot.

I have been seriously considering it. Will probably get one and use it in the 2004 season. Need alot of practice before I try it on an elk.

I don' t mind a slightly heavy bow. I seem to be able to hold it steadier as long as I don' t have to hold on a deer for too long.

I love less weight for carring around, but the truth is I shoot much better with a heavier outfit. My hunting bows weigh around 7lbs all decked out with quiver, arrows, sight, rest ect. Since my bow hangs most of the time it' s not a problem, and like I said I shoot the heavy bows much better.
