08 guardian

Anybody buy an 08 guardian? I did and cam lean was bad, and had rubbing cables at full draw. So I sent it back to bowtech. Things happen. Well, got it back, and appears they put new limbs on, but with all these pins installed at the ends of the limbs. I didn't think the guardian had issues with limbs.

They look kinda bad honestly, with the whole invelvet look and black cams, now, they added these shiney little pins to the thing. I am not tore to pieces over the looks however, but am very disappointed that I still have one cam still rubbing the cable.

Just shouldn't be. I have defended this company since 2003. I have sung thier praises for years. But its not acceptable not to get it right twice. If I want to send it back again, I would again have to pay 20+ dollars for shipping plus the dealer adds some. Cost me 40 dollars the first time.

Might be my last bowtech for a while.

You didnt know the guardian had limb issues?

Dont ALL blowtechs, whoop, I mean bowtechs have limb issues..? Thats why I find it a bit odd when everyone sings praises about them. I definitely dont need bows blowing up in my face, so I'll stick with my Mathews.

I used to shoot mathews too. Lots of them had limb issues in 2000. Lots of them blew up in peoples face. But I never seen Mathews disappoint thier customers on a return froman Out of box defect. Thats what I am referring too here.

I know the generals had a recall. But I never seen a report of guardians or commanders.

I have had several bowtechs. And have always loved thier innovation. I still love my commander.

Bowtech has had "limb issues" for around 3 or 4 years now. At some point you would think they would stop overloading their bows and fix the problem.

Bud, this post is not about that. I am trying to find out if others with 08's have Pinned limbs. And this is for the guardian.

If you don't have experience with this, then I understand how this post does not interest you.

I have an 08 Guardian. No pinned limbs. The only isue I had was my cables sliding past the stops. Took it to my dealer and he said the bow was fine but he installed these spacers to keep the cables from going past the stops. Maybe it's my aftermarket cable slide pulling the cables over too far. I plan on trying a different slide. Do you have any pics. of your situation?

Did that totally fix the problem? You said you still have 1 cable rubbing. And do you have the stock cable slide on your bow?

I have a hyper glide but changed it out before I sent it back. It fixed one cam, but the other is still rubbing. Not as bad as before, but still. Just disappointing. You drop 500-600 for a bow, and out of the box, it sucks, send it back and still sucks.

I know lots of guys where thier guardians have no cam lean and shoots great. So I know they can make it work.

Man, if I wanted 10 year old single cam technology, I would have stuck with my bowtech liberty in 2004. Everybody makes a single came parrellel limb don't they.

As long as your shoulder can handle the draw of a bowtech, go for it.

I don't know how I can be more clear about this post fingerz and what exactly I am trying to find out. There's one thing I can't stand, and that is fanboys. That goes for bowtech, hoyt, PSE, or mathews fanboys. Usually fanboys do not have much experience with other brands, and usually are very young.

And yes, I will "go for It" on whatever I desire to go for.

How do you figure? What have I had that I had problems with? I have had over 2 dozen bows in my life, andhad a bowtech liberty with a cracked top limb, and now this guardian. Even your sidekick Rick Murhad a cracked limb. Tony said he seen dozens upon dozens of cracked limbs in 2006. Are you saying he has a problem with everything he owned?

Besides, Len said you had a 07 guardian. Read the topic. We are discussing 08 guardians. Duh.

Then if you are not even going to try to be helpful and you have zero knowledge on any of this, why even post at all?

Never had a problem with mine either. I absolutely loved the bow. It was just a blast to shoot. I now have a Captain (pretty much the rpl. for the Guardian)and they improved on a Bow that I doubted could be improved on.

Sure guys, I know 5 guys or more who has good guardians. No cam lean, no cable rubbing. This post is not saying there is no good guardians out there whatsoever. I work in design and engineeing and thoughly understand yeild, QAand failure rates. As some on you might also. Shoot, I got a top notch commander.

But my question was, why did they put the pinned limbs on? Just a precautionary measure? Sure you know dan and maybe can comment. Just curious. And the other part was just a little venting.

I did get her tuned in, in about 10 min. With the cable rubbing, I can see I will probably have to change cables little sooner than most. But she is hitting good out to 50 yards.

The reason I got this bow was, I sold all my compounds, except my commander. And I loved the commander draw, quietness, and accuracy. I wanted the same but something the length of my liberty and soemthing that doesn't need a press. So my plan was to have one compound only and rest trad bows. I can't say the guardian is as shooter freiendly or accurate or quiet as the commander. I am shocked that commanders loose resale so quick or didn't sell well.

BC, My guess on the limbs is the pins in the limbswere a precautionary measure, and yes the silver Sucks! Camo or even black anodized would have been much better.

As far as resale on the Commanders it's all supply and demand. The industry has brain washed hunters that they need a super short bow to hunt out of a Tree Stand with:eek:When most would better off with a little longer bow. The length of my 82nd at 36 1/2" was absolutely No issue out of a Blind or a Tree Stand this past Fall.

I shot the bow extremely well, and a lot of that I credit to the longer A to A. I have a Captain in house, but I have an 09 Sentinel as well as 82nd on order.

I like the little bit of extra length;)

Some people might believe that, but I've shot all brands over 40+ years including Mathews for 6 years.

My BowTechs have shot as well or better for me than any Bow I've owned. Their dependability has also been outstanding.

Yeah! I'm on Staff, but that's where I choose to be because I believe in and shot BowTech. I always have and always will shoot the Best Bow for Me.

Thanks Dan. Good info. I even see the 3D guys shooting 32-33" bows. I think the commander was a great bow. I was going to sell mine, but think I am going to keep it. Wife won't be happy.
