RE: Bowhunting in AK
There's some good archery moose hunts up there and caribou to be had off the road system but those are getting a lot of pressure. Plan on having a bowhunter ed. certification if you want to get in on the archery only hunts. Here's a few good resources:

RE: Bowhunting in AK
Moose and caribou, unguided, float hunts, success on every trip for at least one of us on moose hunts (who needs to shoot 3 moose?) and 100% on caribou as well. Haven't gotten anything up there yet with the bow it's either been mine with the flintlock or friends with centerfires. Pretty much everything has been in bow range though. You'll have plenty of hunting to do but it's not just a get out the car and hunt for a few hours type deal. There's a lot more adventure but a lot less hours in the woods than whitetail hunting provides. There's just a lot more planning involved. Although the Yukon Flats bowhunt in F'banks may be a lot like urban whitetail hunting. Haven't done that one though. You'll have access to good sheep hunting too if you get really serious!
