Slick Tricks = Superior BH flight!!!

I hadbeen thinking about trying out some of the better fixed heads lately and had come down to the G5 stryker and the SlickTrick Mag, or the Grizz Trick. Well, after the debate, and a post, i ended up gettingin contactwith MeanV2 (Dan)and since we live close, he sent me aST Mag, and a GrizzTrick.

After getting my AM35 setup with somemaxima 250's with a 100gr. tip i had a 355gr. arrowthat was flying at 282fps @57#'s. Not bad at all to say the least.

I got them dialed in with field tips, sonowwas the ultimate test. I shot them back to back out to 40yds. The flight was great! My first two shots at 20yds,the arrows were shaft to shaft touching each other. Thankfully the blades on the 2nd arrow were positioned just right and didnt hurt the arrow, but it made a clean slicethrough one of my 2.3" duravanes. I proceded toshoot them at different distances to see how close the arrows would pattern. Needless to say, theywere dead on with eachother the whole time. They grouped just as well as a field tip, and i couldnt have been happier with a fixed blade bh.

What surprised me the mostwas thateven though they were differnt sizedheads, they still grouped the same. I am very satisfied with them and will be pickingup a pack for nextseason w/out a doubt.

Thank you Meanv2 (Dan) for letting me try them;excellent customer service to say the least.

Derek,
I think you'll be VERY happy with them. I don't see me shooting anything else except a big LONG WIDE BH to fine tune my bow, then back to the ST's for what they do best, KILL ANIMALS!!! Good to hear you're enjoying that AM35, you can change your SIG line now. :D

I could not agree with you more. These are the greatest flying broadheads I have ever seen. I am even more curious to see how these chrono in comparison to a field tip because call me crazy, but I could almost swear that they fly faster and and even more accurate than my field tips.

I haven't shot an animal yet with them but these things are saweeet!

Nice, I think you'll love them when you get to see what they do to a deer..

My 100 Mags and Standards fly to the same spot, which is very nice.I agree that they shoot better than field tips. My first attempt at 40 yards with a mag, I placed 3 field tips right around the center dot at 12:00, 3:00, 9:00. The slick trick smoked through them dead center.

Throw a Shuttle T by Tight point onand you'll get the same results, and they're deadly.

Derek, You are welcome!!:D

The Slick Tricks are as tough a Broadhead as I've ever shot also. I think you covered the flying part. I've ruined more than one shaft trying to shoot 2 at the same spot. A new one out of the package is deadly sharp as well.

I believe in them or I would not shoot them. That's the Killin' end of the arrow, and that's what is Most Important.

I shot the rages this past year and loved them for their flight. It was amazing. Although i had NO problems and was 3 for 3 with them, i just want to simplify a little bit. I will be using them next year for sure!

I've had similiar results with mine . I have to shoot at different spots on the target now or i'll wreck my arrows in a hurry

Check out the review on SlickTricks newest broadhead..

Supposed to be their most accurate flying head yet.

Duke, I can't speak on a National level, but I did test the Razor trick and it flew spot on. No different than other Tricks in my shooting tests. It hasn't been a very good seller for me. Personally I think it would be great where lower KE setups need help with penetration.

Jeff The Grizz Trick flew spot on for me out to 60 yards, as well as the Mags, and the Standards.

This year I used the 100 grainGrizz Trick Mags and next year I plan on the same. The 125 Grizz Trick will also get some use out ofa coupleof my setups;)

I think I'm gonna shoot the 125 gr Grizz this year.

I love my NAP Nitrons.. but sometimes get discouraged by the poor blood trails even on double lung hits. I need something small.. but with that 4th blade to help make a hole that bleeds a little better.

The Grizz is at the top of my list of possible changes for 2009.

Duke, After hunting lots of years and using dozens of types, sizes, and brands of Broadheads I've come to prefer the 4 blade heads.

I honestly don't think you'd be disappointed with the Grizz Tricks.

With the cutting diameter of the GrizzTricks and being 4 blades will it affect penetration on deer out to 30-35 yards? I have about 53ft lbs of KE. Will I be ok if I went with these heads?

Luke,
I think you'd be just fine, the cutting diameter is less concerning than the angle of the blades to me because they're not that wide of a cut, but it IS and acute angle that those BH's have to them. I have plenty of energy for just about anything on the market, but I might hesitate to us the Grizz-Tricks. The ST Magnums however are an excellent BH, and have a more sloping angle that doesn't seem to affect penetration. Granted, ST are SHARP, but that angle on the Grizz-Tricks "scares" me away from them.

RE: Slick Tricks = Superior BH flight!!!

From having both OHbowhunter, The grizztricks angle really isnt much more at all. It basically is in the design of the ferrule. In the pics i do see exactly what you are talking about, but hand in hand, its almost hard to tell a true difference.
