I went to the doctor wensday. He told me that my knee pain was not from the same issues i had surgery for last Jan. I do not think he would have lied about it since he was not the doctor who sent me to the surgeon or the surgeon.
HE told me something was loose behind my knee cap. Which is causing my pain. When he moved my leg my knee cap moved side to side. He told me doing a scope was not a good choice. HE said a total knee replacement was a option but not at my age. He told me he would give me some pain meds. and see what it does. He told me if not to do phys. therapy in a week or so and we would go from there. What i found odd and maybe some of you can let me know if this is normal. He gave me 100 vicoden. Which i got hydrocodone 500s for generic for 17 days worth of meds. That comes out to 6 a day. Which it does say 1 every 4 hours as need. Does this seem to be alot.
I know i am a big guy but dam.
He did tell me to stay off it. But when it warms up i will be out scouting. I am not going to let some pain keep me in the house. He seemed like it would not get worst just not better. I know phys therapy did not help last year.
Could have been worst he gave me three options last month. Arthritistotal knee replacement or cartilage replacement. Know he says surgery is not a option we want to go down. I do agree. But i know three people who are addicted to pain meds. One for knee pain one for cancer one for a bad back surgery.

I can deal with what it is now i can walk about 80% for the most part some time it gets bad but still not as bad as before.

I hope it all is good come hunting season. I think i am going to try and get the permit for hunter with a disability that would allow me to use the access road and it changes some of the rules for hunting the local state property. I do not like the idea but if it keeps me hunting so be it.

I can't give advise about the meds but good luck and I hope you're feeling better byspring.

I am not a doctor and will not claim to be.. I do know I had a knee scoped last Feb. and it went pretty good I feel. I have had some problems with it but nothing compaired to what it was like before hand. He also gave me some pain meds but I only took them the dayI got home from surgery. I was hooked on them years ago and refuse to go back down that road. Now my other knee is bothering me worse but I will get by with it as long as I can. He did check out my knee that was scoped out and said I would probally need a replacement in about a year. ( I hope he is wrong ) I also know that by putting a heating pad on it a couple times a day if posable can help out by keeping any swelling down. My doctor doesn't go along with all that physical therapy stuff. He said try and do this and that while at home and you will be fine.. Good Luck to you..

Good luck with your knee big guy. You have the whole year to get it back in shape. Take your time and do it the way the doc says. "Half measures availed us nothing".

Tim, from having seen many knee injuries and experiencing several myself, I can tell you something about your knee. Generally, when your kneecap slides from side to side, you are lacking strong lower quadricep muscles...those are the muscles that stabilize your kneecap. You need to ask your doctor about which lower leg exercises you can perform, and begin doing them immediately. About the pain meds, those meds are NO joke. I have dealt with many a teenager that has gotten addicted to oxycotin. Tim, to be honest, with your weight as high as it is, the problem you are having with you knee is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of thejoint/health problems you should expect to encounter with increasing frequency as you age. Why am I telling you this? Because you have always been honest with us and you seem like a good guy who just wants to hunt and enjoy life...BEST of luck to you my friend.

I will bring that up with him next time he told me if the meds did not help do the phys. therapy. I think i should do it any way. I do not intend on taking 6 pain pills a day. My brother has addiction issues with pills. That is not a road i will go down.
