There is a good selection of quality heads today, not so years back.

IMHO the best fixed blade broadhead on the market is the Slick Trick. I've used them since 03, and Gary has made several improvements, but I'd still shoot the 03 models over anything else available today.

I've never shot anything but fixed. I've probably used a dozen different kinds over the last 38 years. I've had great luck with the Thunderheads and the Shuttle T's, that's what I'm using now. Knowing what you're going to be hunting would help also. The Muzzy has killed more game than just about any fixed head on the market I believe. When you get it narrowed to a couple, shoot them both and see which works best with your setup. A well tuned bow will shoot a shovel head. An off tuned one will give you fits.

the profile picture says it all but if you don't agree, i did kill a doe with a G5 striker this year, i was suprisingly satisfied with the head

Slick tricks are great heads..The main reason I like them is because Ive tried a few brandsandST's arethe only ones that constantly fly like my field tips. Plus they do a lot of damage for their size.
