We have a guy around here like that. Monday night was first night of league, he shot a 300 54X on the first shoot.I was looking at the score board from last year, he was 300's across the board with 50+ x's on every week. Im a decent shot for my time shooting andconsidering who im around, but its humbling to shoot with guys like that. All you can do is watch, listen, and learn.

so I can sit on my ass and get out of shape. Thanks for the helpful life lessons!

this shows you doubt your self, you think you wont have he motivation to stay healthy, so forth you will be a fat ass.

once again your tenth grader is coming out, I despise baseball it gets people no where, and the few that get some where are wrong.

also
you mean you don't want to become even more of a fat ass because all you do is sit on the bench.
Well, I was going to defend you until I read this. I know your going to come off and say that you don't need me to defend you because you can beat up male nurses and high schoolers and hit beer cans at 100 yrds., but I still have to say this. I'm not doubting your ability to shoot a can at 100 yrds. Heck, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. But, you sir, are a tool!

Dude this is crazy. Just from reading this, I would have assumed Rory was 20, and you were 15. That's almost a Jr. High come back. Idk man I half-way believed you at first, now I think it's total bull****.

And by the way, I have to know, does it make you feel good to tell a 15 year old kid that he's a fat ass?

Does it feel good to argue with a 15 year old kid?

Are you the immature, lonely, friendless, 20 year old creeper that shows up to highschool parties, acts like a badass, and hits on all the young chicks?

If you're so mature (mature enough to have a job and take care of yourself) you're sure not showing it.

You also wasted a great tool in not appreciating this site and the advice that some of the guys on here can give. Maybe you should delete your account and start over fresh. You have almost 70 posts in just a few days, and they're all garbage.

But to read what you just said here to LT, I lost some respect for ya!![:@] Be a little more careful In what you say on here.

NO

there is no 100yd shots on animals around here.

I'm talking about getting to the point that a 20-30yd shot is nothing, this is achieved by long range shooting.

At 100yd there would not even be enough KE to penetrate the hide !! at least on my bow
Good to hear that you wouldn't consider a shot at long distance at an animal. As to the "not enough energy thing," keep thinking that, it's healthy, regardless of how wrong it may be it's healthy to thing that for the sake of the animals. Actually an arrow will retain about 80% of it's energy at 100yds, which in the case of MANY of us here would still be plenty of energy for a kill, IF THE SHOT HIT WHERE IT WERE SUPPOSED TO. That being said, I know that I will personally NEVER attempt anything that long, but I do know there are some western hunters that would, Pete Shepley comes to mind pretty quickly for one.

Now as to the rest of the stuff you posted, Tru-Glo $20 sight, I'd like to know what point you aim with to be able to shoot that far????? Do you put the bottom of the pin housing 4 or 5ft above the target????

I think you need to do a little research, learn a little more about arrow ballistics and trajectory, sight parallax, etc, before you post too much BS and get yourself laughed off of HNI. Welcome to HNI, but don't come trying to "Baffle people with Bull" when you are dealing with some very experienced archers, including a few here (not me) who have shot at some of the highest level tournaments in the country. Sit back, read and learn a bit, it will help rebuild your credibility a bit.
Now let's go back 10 pages and try again......

I'm new here to the forum and like what I see.

My question is if any one shares the same addiction that I suffer from [8D] . I started out shooting at 20yd then went to 30yd then shot and stayed at 50yd for a couple of months after getting tired of the same distance I continually back up the range. Now I practice at 100yd + I normally don't go higher than 120, but some times I can't resist.

to me it is watching the arrow flight, it gos 16 feet hight then drops like a rock right to the sweet spot, I like to put out a can when at 100yd so I can hear the impact. I suppose it started with the realization of the daily struggle animals go through just to survive. I have not wounded an animal and I don't plan on it, when I practice I feel like I owe it to the animal.

Just to think that I could possible wound an elk in the rockies and have that animal suffer or possibly deal with one natures deaths ( wolfs, mountain lion, infection, etc...), it dose not sit well. when practice time comes around every shot is as if it is on an animal, due to the respect I have gained for theses creatures though my repeated humbling 8 hours of nothingness, just the stillness of the woods. I felt that is when I learned the most about the "true" meaning of hunting, when you see nothing, get antsy, this is when I need to remind my self of creatures like the wolf who don't have the option of going to the store and getting food, this is what they live for.

I think to many hunters are getting to used to going form truck to tree and have forgotten the reason for the hunt and what it means.

or perhaps all the weeks of not even seeing a squirrel have taken it toll

so dose any one else have these thoughts toward bow hunting ?
The original post above

First 2 replies below (not really bad but immediately assuming shots at live animals):

Are you shooting live animals at 100+ yards???

If the answer is yes, you are not gonna find to many frineds here. Practice flinging arrows, he what ever floats yer boat. But 100 yard bow shots on a live animal is just unethical no matter how luck you may be to have not wounded an animal.
i like long range but would never consiter a long range shot for hunting
Followed by:

Tell us about the bow setup you use for these long distance shots. You must be quite the shooter! [8D]
I want you to take a video camera with you next time would love to see the vid!
So, uh, how many pins does that $20 Tru Glo have
Welcome.
How far is the peep on your string from the nock point? [8D]

Ill be the first to bite. Weren't you the one commenting on his character...and now you start in name calling? LOL

You are getting impressive speeds out of a bow that IBOs 309 FPS. 280 with 27.5" Draw length and an arrow 25 grains over IBO.

According to OT2, you have around 237" of drop, or 19.75 ft. Not saying it can't be done, Ive seen it done, but it isn't easy. If you have a light 5 mph breeze, you'll have just under 5" of wind drift. To hit a coke can from that distance, you should start shooting competitions.....

It's cool you are shooting from that far...just kind of hard to swallow that you are doing it very consistently.Only you would know though.
You got a lot of nerve to come on here, and in your first couple days be posting things like that. You won't be here long if you keep that **** up
Looks like something fishy is going on here. Im no one to judge cause im only a teenager and pretty new to the sport of archery. This guy can't even make up his mind on what arrows he is shooting. Gold tip expediton hunters run about 65$ a dozen and pro hunters run 100$+ a dozen. this guy needs to get his facts striaght before he can be making comments of the people that have been on this forum for so long.
Im just saying on this forum we don't brag about stuff without backing it up with pics.
I mean really all of this over 100 yd shot at a Coke can,he said 100 yards people that's not that far and yes while not the norm I'm sure a sight could have a 100 yard pin (I couldmake changes to mine to get there).

All of the above stuff was from the first few pages and ithas pretty much deteriorated rapidly from there and I definitely don't agree with a lot of the petty personal BS and name calling that ensuedI'm just trying to point out that I wouldn't really call this a warm fuzzy site for a newcomer to comeenjoy loads of informationfrom great people with friendly attitudes. One person starts with a "read between the lines" comment which basically says he doesn't buy it, then one of his buddies piles on, then the experts start calculating, and within a couple of pages the new guy is a liar who doesn't know what he's talking about and how dare he come onto HNI and insult thehigh levels of intelligence here.

Iwouldn't have repondedin the way that LR did, quite the contrary there would be some experts eating crow whenthe video clip was posted, but I can understandhis frustration(still don't approve of many responses). But now it's13 pages laterand he's the villianand we can all gather around and give him a good kick and feel good about ourselves, right? But was he the villian or did we make him the villian?

That was my point back on page 3, but when he started talking about religion in a negative way and name calling that wasn't cool either. LR, read my sig

Come on really!! I can't believe this is still going on. Don't sweat the small stuff, life is to short!

As Kieth Warren would say " This is exactly what the Anti's want, to see us fighting within our own ranks!"

P.S. get over it!

No, what is ridiculous is that the Mod's will let this go on for so long with a punk nobody, and yet Lock a perfectly good conversation.

Sad, sad.
