Don and everyone else who uses the lone wolf sticks and alpha or assault. For a morning hunt,do you pretty much know what tree your going up? You would practically have to as you can't evaluate sign in the dark, certainly can determine prevailing winds.
I am more inclined to use the sticks and light stand in the afternoon and go right up a tree in the morning.I guess with a bright eye or two in a tree and getting there well in advance of first light it could work out pretty well.
An other alternative would be to have a number of tree's that you have steps in and go in with just the stand on your back. Not as stealthy but pretty flexible.
Yes I already know the tree just as I would for using a climber. A small headlamp makes putting things up just as easy as in daylight. This fall I had a buck come by minutes after being setup as it would have been iffy to get off a shot in the faint light had it been a shooter. This weekend I used the sticks & hangon to take a doe, I had been in stand a while, but in the freezing temps I hung the setup without overheating the least bit.

Same advantage you have when using a climber EXCEPT you can put the stand and sticks in trees where climbers cannot go.;)

You don't get patterened.

I am starting to get many stand sites where I hunt so I don't have to hunt the same stands very often but I will use the LW a few times to mix things up and adjust to the deer activity.

Personally,I HATE climbers.I just can't get comfortable with them. They never secure like they should.(might be that I am only 140#'s) and I can't get them to bite as well as they should but the LW locks in tight(I do use an extra ratchet on the stand) and I feel much safer and more secure.
