Clarify Antlerless for me

Me and my buddy are having a slight disagreement. He says that if a button buck is shot that it can be tagged out as antlerless. But I say that since it has the unit that the buck tag should be punched out. Anyone know who may be correct?

If its a button buck its tagged as an antlerless deer.. At least thats the way it is where I'm from. My first deer ever was a shotgun button buck.. Tagged as antlerless.

Even if there issome antler protruding, it is still tagged as antlerless if its under 3 inches (in Indiana)

According to the regulations in Virginia, an Antlered buck is a buck with antlers breaking the skin Above the hairline.

If it is a BB that does not protrude the skin or above the hairline, its antlerless.

3" I believe In Mn to be classified as a buck. I may be wrong though. If It was me though, It would get marked as a buck.

PA law reads that a antlered deer has at least one antler measuring more than 3". If a buck has 2.5" spikes, it's considered antlerless. Personally I don't like nor agree with that. Too many shoot first, look second and if they'd have to burn their buck tag on a button buck rather than their "antlerless" tag perhaps more bb's would survive uping our buck to doe ratio etc.. My personal opinion only.

Here an antlerless deer is any deer with 10 cm (4 in) or less of bone on it's head.

Less than 5" is antlerless in Florida but a buck must have at least 3 points on one side if you're hunting on public land.
