Since crossbows are illegal in oregon, no. But I would find something to hunt with![:-]

Thank you for the responses folks. I guess the original point to this thread was asking if folks would continue to hunt in archery season if their only option was a crossbow.

Any further comments would be welcome.

Poaching:

My sister married into a family that didn' t have much. It wasn' t uncommon for them to be cleaning a deer in the middle of summer.

I don' t blame them or scold them for doing so. They needed the meat to survive. It wasn' t something they did to relax and enjoy. They did it to eat.

I should clarify my post from page 1. I suppose it would depend on the reasoning of banning compound bows and traditional bows. If crossbows only were allowed because of reasons that were proven and sound, I would not hunt with my compound.

This question begs me to ask another although it does not belong in the bowhunting forum, but in a sense becomes relative. Making a law to ban compounds and stickbows is like asking a shotgun hunter to give up his semi-automatic shotgun because of a law passed. I just wonder how many would give up their semi-auto shotguns? Same thing to me.

" I will start in reverse and type r e a l s l o w so that you can follow along. Actually, you were trying to hike your leg and piss on the " non-traditional" tree when you asserted to all of us how you wouldn' t even bother to hunt if you couldn' t hunt traditional, which by the way was the subtext of the post."
Since I never mentioned " traditional" , nor made any reference to it, I think you should ask Miss Cleo for a refund. The initial post asked if we would hunt in ARCHERY season if...and get this...COMPOUNDS and stickbows were outlawed.

" I didn' t have a misconception. Your attitude of superiority has always been obvious to me."
Then you should probably address your inferiority complex. That' s your issue, not mine. And no...a big " manly-man" nickname doesn' t help either.[&:] " Silentassassin" ? BWHAAAAA HA HA HA!!!!!

" Actually, I felt like you were going into a " tizzy" and for no-reason. That is why I felt obligated to chime in and point it out to you."
Actually, you decided to " chime in" because I disagreed with someone who has the title " Moderator" under his name. BTW, you' ve got a little brown on the tip of your nose still.

" You make those claims with your very attitude of holier than thou art because I shoot traditional equipment *******."
And you still can' t point to where I referenced " traditional" before you decided to throw it out there? Your dog still won' t hunt. Making it up as you go along again?

" You don' t, just like I don' t need your permission to point out that you were being insolent for no reason."
No...but you should at least make your brown-nosing a little less obvious. Ooops...you missed a spot.:D

" Childish little punk" ?

And this from a guy who lies about what I post, doesn' t like my position on crossguns, so he starts with personal insults? Considering the source...thank you. :D

Now then...you still missed a spot. [&:]

If you are talking about hunting big game sure I would use the crossbow if that was the only thing legal. If you' re meaning ground hogs also,I would hate that and probely give up hunting them because I only hunt them with a bow. Here there is no season on them so the bow would still be ok.(I guess)
Curious, how many were hunting before there was a bow season for deer, bear and hogs and did you hunt with a bow anyhow???
