It's not even funny, EI. You're missing an ingredient.

Here's all of your gear listed......What's your KE? Can it be figured from what's present? Do you even know? No lifeline, here. Do you even know???
Sure do Jeff. I get 69 1/2ft lbs shooting a 501gr arrow at 250fps. Anything else?:D

Jim....the difference is...I'm not coming into a thread where a guy lost a deer and telling him the reason he lost is due to his BH choice when I discuss BH's. You seem to never miss a chance to try to make someone feel bad or look foolish.

There's a BIG difference.
Jeff, you do a good enough job at looking foolish all by yourself without any outside help. That's the BIG difference! Think about it. It get's said time and again.;)

RE: What Happened?

So given what you got in the OP's post....what's his KE? Is his bow tuned?

Nevermind silly questions like that.....let's berate mechanicals, AGAIN!:D

RE: What Happened?

What else is there to blame it on if you are shooting mech's and lose the deer? No passthrus? Perfectly broadside at 28 yds, should go thru and thru. (Unless you are shooting a field point with knife blades hanging out the sides)[8D]

I'm just sayin'.

KE is always a good answer though when shooting knife blades.

RE: What Happened?

What else is there to blame it on if you are shooting mech's and lose the deer?
1. Poor shot placement
2. Bow improperly tuned
3. Arrow too light
4. Too low poundage
5. Not enough KE produced
6. BH's not sharp
7. Shot angle
Etc...

Not saying ANy of these happened in this case......just a few off the top of my head.

RE: What Happened?

Now that was a smart post Jeff. Why did you not throw out this list earlier.

My point was, it's not always about any "one" thing. It could have been a variety of issues.

Anyone ever consider the deer may have wheeled at the shot? This in itself paints a whole other picture of impact.

RE: What Happened?

When was the last post on this thread that had anything to do with the shot placement on this deer?
