Got to love those 100 % Guaranteed hunts

Im not exactly sure how this hunt works but it says each hunter gets a 4-5 acer area and is guaranteed to get a buck, so im guessing its like sitting in a big fenced in area?
Even tho i could get the biggest buck of my life, i dont think i could ever do it because it seems wrong to the people who do it the fair chase way, and the excitement of the unknown is gone.
Anyway could any of you ever go on ahunt like this? http://www.thewildernesspa.com/newupcomingevents.html

Its absolutly fenced in. I handled a complaint adjacent to the wilderness a month or so ago. Pretty gay if you ask me. I'm sure allen warren has it on his schedule for next year.

edit: the more i think about it, i know a guy who went to one of these after the season specials the wilderness offers. you are exactly right, each hunter has a small area to stay in whilethe "guides" walk aroundand push the deer to the hunters.

Allen's pathetic brother Keith probably has his slot paid for, or given to him as well.

His (Keith's) one showed was filmed from there. Rifle with no orange (illegal), baited (illegal) in PA. [:'(] [:'(] And then he has the gall to say that this was what hunting in PA was like. [:'(]

I new something wasent right because the show i was watching was a guy and his little son walked right up to this huge deer maybe 180" and shot it as they were moving around and talking and the deer never ran.
They never even mentioned it was a high fenced hunt or anything like that, they make it look like hunting is that easy in real life.

Not for me.....although I won't condemn it for what it is. Is it hunting? You decide.

To be fair, ROb.....my bet is none of what you describe is illegal within the confines of the compound he was on. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even need licenses......wouldn't count towards your PA tags.....etc...

My bet is he did nothing "illegal". I'm not condoning anything....just pointing out that they play by an entirely different set of rules......because what they do is entirely different from what we do.

Like you....I have a problem when they try to pass off their escapades as being anything like what we do.

Nothing that is 100% guarenteed is hunting.

didn't you hunt in a fenced area for a doe? AND wanted to take your son to kill his first deer in this type of an area....or is my memory thinking of someone else?

Ok I'll decide and its not hunting. I'll argue that until I am blue in the face. If I truly want to eat that badly I'll go to the grocery store......cheaper, simpler and just as challenging.

Very simple to me, it's not hunting at all [:'(]It's a business that I don't believe in [:@]But that's just my opinion [&o]

you want another place like that look up MOUNTAIN TRAIL WHITETAILS there you get to PICK THE BUCK YOU GET TO SHOOT IN ADVANCE AND THAN PAY BASED ON TOTAL INCHES OF ANTLER

davidmil 12-14-2008 06:02 PM

RE: Got to love those 100 % Guaranteed hunts

Halfrack... I think this place is telling you the same thing. You can pick out what size deer you want to shoot and they'll put him in front of you. No way in hell is this hunting. No way and I'll condemn it as long as I breath. These places and hunting shouldn't be mentioned together. It's not hunting and I'll go as far as to tell anyone face to face it's a farse and far cry from hunting. It always has been and will be something else.

this is a complete discusting ordeal....anyone who does is pathetic...and Isure don't respect them if they do...and yes, Im judging them for it...sue me. it's not hunting, it's target practice, just one more issue in hunting that causes people to question our passion...it's just wrong...that's my 2 pennies...

No **** Jeff, they played like it was wild PA so what they did was illegal in wild PA but in the fence, hell no they weren't illegal.

thats killing livestock, not a hunt, and yes I'd do it if they gave it to me - great meat I imagine, i could try some new arrows/heads and have a rack I could sell on EBAY I imagine .... but it aint hunting

I wouldn't do it. That kind of so called "hunting" makes me sick. Thats called shooting, not hunting.

I dont even know if i could justify paying anyone to kill a whitetail period. I have seen good enuff deer killed around my area to know for a fact that they are here. Paying 3-5k for a 130" buck:eek:please...

Now, I believe that there are definately people that live in certain places or have certain situations that it would be worth it to them to pay an outfitter no doubt, and im not saying that its stupid to go on an outfitted hunt for everyone. But I wouldnt. Ill eat tag soup, before I pay somebodyfor a management 8pt[:-]
Dont even get me started on the fenced in bs!

Kind of like fishing for catfish in a stocked pond then paying by the lb when you leave. But I am sure none of us have ever done that either;)

Any place that advertises "Guaranteed kill", or "No kill, no pay" is a fenced pic 'n shoot. Most of the so called "hunting shows" we see on tv patronize these glorified meat lockers because it's easier to do that to tape their show than it is to actually hunt. [:'(]

RE: Got to love those 100 % Guaranteed hunts

I wouldn't do it in a million years but I really don't care if some guy with more money than brains wants to.
We all know what hunting is and means to us but some guys just want something to hang in their summer place.

I actually heard of one place that spray paints the price of the deer right on their side and a bright orange dot where you should hit them.

The word "Hunting and Fence" just doesn't belong in the same sentence. Maybe "harvest", but MOST definitely, NOT HUNTING. [:'(]

I'm not very fond of the Warrens. At the end of one of the shows, they had a little segment where he praised, urged and called high fence operations as the future of hunting and how it shoudl be done. They did make a semi-derrogatory comment about public land type hunting, but I can't exactly remember it word for word.

Anything that deals with hunting and has "Spa" in the website name is not hunting. Plus, you can go in there and shoot a fricking longhorn bull. I don't know about you, but I would hang up my man card if I ever went hunting for a cow!

TreednNC 12-15-2008 11:44 AM

RE: Got to love those 100 % Guaranteed hunts

Id rather have a longhorn bull on my wall than a 200"+ high fence deer
