Default It figures . . .

Today was the last day of the 2 week firearms season here. I have been hunting them the past 2 Saturdays carrying my bow, but I had to work this Saturday and didn't feel the need to get up early for an afternoon hunt (I work nights and sleep during the day). At 4:45pm, I got up and looked out the bathroom window to see if anything was in the backyard - my wife had seen 5 deer in the morning before I got home from work. I saw 2 deer and got the binoculars. The one closest to the house was a beautiful 10 point! [:@]

He was about 40 yards from the back of my house and I had a shotgun in the room . . . NO WAY would I even consider taking such a shot though . . .

He was feeding away from the house and I knew he'd bolt if I tried to do anything. He walked with-in 10 yards of 2 pre-hung stands I placed in the pre-season. Hopefully, he'll repeat this dangerous daytime activity with me in one of those stands! I've never laid eyes on him before, so I hope he'll be back before the season ends.

Next Saturday, the deer will be chased for 2 more weeks by muzzleloaders and then 2 more days of firearms.I'm off this week and rain is predicted for every day. Oh well . . .

And if that don't work I'd be glad to help out.
