RE: A Xmas story and a tip of the hat
Joe, I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. Life is definitely not fair but remember, that with God, all things are possible. Prayers are very powerful and I know for a fact that they work!We will definitely pray for your cousin and his family.

RE: A Xmas story and a tip of the hat
Thanks for the warm wishes and prayers guys. Cory and his family will plow through this, I'm sure!
Simp, Pippy is precious! I know she is in good hands. Yours are in my prayers as well. By the way, there is a great program called Benefit For Kids (B4K.com). Jason Miller is a great friend of mine. You should check into it. Is Pippy hunting yet? |
RE: A Xmas story and a tip of the hat
She's not into hunting yet but anytime I go into the woods to hang a stand or move one she's with me every time! She loves the woods.

RE: A Xmas story and a tip of the hat
He will be placed in a hip spica cast (mid-chest down both legs to his toes. A stick will hold his legs apart, at the ankles, by two feet) for six to eight weeks. All this will be followed by six months of physical therapy. The dynamics in my house are about to change dramatically! My son broke his femur at 2 years old. 6 weeks in a chest high body cast with a stick holding his legs apart put my family to the test. My wife had to take off 6 weeks of work. It was HARD. Best of luck to you Huckleberry. Your son will be spinning around on his hip spica cat in no time....I WISH the best for you guys. I don't cry that much but when I saw my two year old son being wheeled into the OR with tubes in his nose I couldn't hold it back. |

Brett,
Can I ask you a questions? What did you do when your son had to travel? With this style cast, bending is not an option-neither is strapping my son to theluggage rack. I get this visual of the lad in a cartwheel position on the back seat and strapped in with every seatbelt.I'm thinking about renting a larger size SUV with a removable back seat. Any thoughts? (sorry, this should be a PM) |

(sorry, this should be a PM) ![]() Yes, we had to strap him down with the buckles in the back seat. He would lay on his back. If you have a portable DVD player, that can be a great tool on long rides or if he is getting frustrated while on car rides. As you can imagine, using the bathroom will be a challenge for him. One tip, if the inside of the cast gets wet, use a hair dryer to ge the moisture out, or the cast will become funky/itchy rather fast. One thing that will come of this, your son will have some serious upper body strength after he goes through this.....my son got real strong in his upper body during his time in the spica cast, and has never lost it. BEST of luck to you. I will ask my wife when she gets home if there are any more tips she can think of, and I bet she will. Take care and good luck. |

Wow!! That got the tears flowing and then some. One just never realizes how good they have It, boy I'm sure guilty of It at times. My heart goes out to Cory, Will. Prayers and more prayers will be on the way. That goes for Joe and Simp's family also!! I wish you all the very best. Merry Christmas to you all.
Great thread Will, yes there's always hope.:) |

Huck,
Cory will be in our prayers. It's tough let me tell you. Jesse's little brother (1 yr old Justin)fell last friday and broke his left arm. My wife was in the same hospital almost 4 years to the day from when she was with Jesse when he was diagnosed. He'll be alright, just have to keep the sling on him. |
