RE: Shed Hunting Traps

My least favorite word (ethical) is now being applied to way people hunt for shed antlers.:eek:I'd like to add that I'man unethical mushroom hunter. I just walk right up and pick them, its like they don't even have a fighting chance!!

I believe they are illegal in Illinois, as any kind of feeding station is banned---doesn't matter if you are hunting over it or not.
Yes.. it is illegal in the state of Illinois.

And I'm not really all that sure if the author of this post has ever shed-hunted before. In fact.. I don't think he/she has.

I've been doing it for years.. and to say its not work is an insult to my legs.. which put on 120+ hours of walking for about 25 sheds every year. The miles are ridiculous.[&:]

If thats not work.. I don't know what is.

I don't get this ethical/unethical mentality these days. Some speak as if the word "ethical" is a dirty word, but its not.

I'm not saying its unethical but I know the only way I'd even think about setting an antler shed trap is if the buck can get away if his antlers are not ready to fall off. I've seen too many bucks carrying full racks into late March and the first of April. Ain't no way I'd use wire.

I can't wait for hunting season to start again down there just so people have something better to do than make these posts...

I'd say it's unethical in IL seeing as how feeding deer is illegal.

Otherwise, it just seems like a waste of time.
