Thanks guys. I'll take your advice. My concern was always that if they could tell the difference between buck and doe urine, that they would smell ours as foreign and not like it. But it makes sense that they are curious and might smell it and think nothing of it. I have been hunting my ass off this season and having a lot of fun and frustrations while at it. Three years ago I stuck a doe on my first hunt ever, first hour and a half ever..and thought this is gonna be easy. Tried for a buck the rest of the season with no luck. Last year I hunted in Missouri with some buddies sparingly due to being busy, and didn't see much deer at all and got skunked. This year I'm back in NE, been hunting hard and have seen a lof of deer. Have shot two does, unfortunatley was not able to recover one of them, and have whiffed on the same 8 pointer twice. He came in on a different trail each time which I didn't have marked with the rangefinder and misjudged distance. I want to kill my first buck badly. Now that the rut is over I'm worried my chances are slim but I will keep trying.

The only time I urinate from my stand is when bloodcrick is walking under it! I really don't think it hurts anything.

I piss quite often out of the tree...and have yet to see a deer walk by and freak out.
If you want a real kick....piss when some deer are around you in the dark! The one time I did it a couple fawns walked towards the spot on the ground it was hitting. Deer are stupidly funny.

I peed on a immature buck's back once...he didn't even react. I spit on a mature does back too. She looked back smell it and walked on. That makes me wonder about the breath issue we discuss too.
On the other hand the great Myles Keller would not pee from the tree...at least that was what he was saying about 10 years ago.

Honestly guys, I go back and forth on the importance of not peeing from your tree. This has been my evolution of thought past to present:
4yrs ago... deer can tell the difference between doe, buck, or human urine so don't give them any indication you've been there.
2yrs ago... even though they can tell the difference, there's not much human urine in the forest so although it might appear strange to them, they wont perceive it as danger.
this year... deer can tell if urine is fresh or if it's 8hrs old. Fresh might alarm them becauseit causes them to think that something is in the area. Old might not because they know that this potential danger has already come and gone.
Any thoughts on this?

I think deer can tell the difference, does it spook them.. I don't really know. I've heard deer can tell if another one pees in a scrape so I guess they can tell the differences in deer pee..
Anyway, I pee in a bottle or just wait.. No Big deal to me.. If there is a chance it will bug one deer in the woods then I try not to do it.
