Default Question on the 2nd rut??

We all know and await a 2nd rut but does that trigger the same attributes as the first rut.

What I mean I guess is there a seeking, chasing, tending sequence or are the bucks laid back waiting for estrus does to happen by. I love seeking/early chasing but is it something I can expect twice? Are the bucks seeking again now or feeding?

This is one I wish someone would answer. It's a subject I know nothing about, but I sure would like to know.

Well it definitely exist. The difference being, there's a lot less doe going into heat than there were earlier. It's just the later born fawns or early fawns(which ever you want) and the few that didn't get bred or take the first time through. Most people don't even notice the difference of going from post rut to second rut to post rut again. It's a whole lot quieter time. Bucks are still looking but they've been beat up. A lot of them have gotten themselves killed to. Just some trolling and following and we're back to scrape lines and food.

In my experience, the second rut is more subdued than the first rut, BUT!, if you happen to be in the vicinity of a doe in heat it can be awesome! For instance, in '07 I killed a buck onDec. 15th. I was still hunting on the edge of an awesome bedding area and arrowed a beautiful buck that was chasing a doe. If it weren't for this rutting activity, him trying to corral her into the corner of the bedding area, I never would have gotten a chance at him. She actually wanted to leave the area but he kept pushing her back into this corner, which is where I happened to be standing in chest waders in the river, waiting.
If you keep track of the first rut timing, then prepare to hunt 28 days after the peak of the first rut, you could be in for some great hunting comeDecember. Just like the first rut, hunt where the does are, but maybe spend some time around bedding areas since the hunting pressure has driven some of the bigger bucks into thicker areas until dark.
