Here's where I agree 100%. I see guys who just want to kill to kill and then struggle to find a place to donate them. Thats not cool. IMO.
I can only assume that this was aimed mostly at me....lol.

Wanna kill something? Wanna know how many deer I passed on this year?

There's an important piece of this puzzle that's getting conveniently ignored. Do they need killing? I guess I'm damned to get caught in the crossfire. People want to belittle my hunting....citing the deer herd numbers, here. And when you try to thin it.....you get chastised for that, too.

Rest assured.....there is ALWAYS someone here that needs food.
Jeff, there will ALWAYS be a critic ........ besides, there is nothing wrong with going out to kill your intended target ;)

Actually no. There is a bunch of people I see do this not on this page. Some who I am kinda shocked, because they are elders in my church. Paris, everything on this forum is not about you. Holy cow man, are you really this self absorbed?

Believe me, if I had a neighbor or co-worker come up to me and tell me thier family needed the meat, going thru hard times, starving and asked me to kill a deer, first thing I would do is go buy them a grocery store gift certificate (reasonable amount I could afford), then if I saw a deer that was suitable and easy shot, I would shoot it for them and butcher it for them.

There is a big difference in someone asking your help, and someone who just wants to kill something, or think they are managing a herd, and now they feel stuck with a deer they didn't want.

For the money spent on Hunting every year, you could go buy a cow for meat. Every one of us does it because we like to hunt and yes "kill".

No disrespect towards anyone.

But no truer (if thats a word) words have been spoken.
Of coursepeople want to kill something...we are talking about hunting arent' we???

Apersonbuys a tag...kills a deer...and then someone eats it. Still not seeing the problem here.

Was it disprespectfull when I gave my sister (not a hunter)some venison burger recently since she likes to eat it and has little $ since she is in college?

I don't have alot of extra $ to give to the poor...but it is pretty easy for me to come up with an extra deer to donate to the MN food pantry. It just sounds crazy to me that this would be looked down upon...especially considering the fact that the hunters in MN (where I hunt) almost never meet the deer harvest goals set out by the state each season. They make tags available for a reason...to kill deer.

Big difference between wanting to kill, and killing because you actually like the meat, and enjoy being outdoors.

Tell yourself anything you want, BC. Your God knows how petty you're being.;)

Remember it's not paranoid if it's true.

I posted a thread a few days ago asking about what I could do with the meat....to extend my season. To which you chastised me for once, already. You took another pot-shot, today.

"Critic", PT?

"Stalker", more like.:D

Yep. I'm already on the record somewhere in the past as saying that I enjoy the kill.:)

GMMAT's point on herd management wasvalid.WhereI hunt in Hardeman County, TN, the antlerless limit is 3 per day, and theyWANT us to use it. The deer population there is out of control. My goal this yearis to put 7-8 deer in the freezer (yes we'll eat it all). I'm at 6 now. What will I do when I get to 8? I'll keep hunting and go for does on our lease in Hardeman county. I know a lot of folks who would love to have some venison, and could use the food. In addition to that, I'll be doing my part to help get the deer population in check by doing what I love to do - hunting for deer, killing them and making someone else's day by delivering a bag of already processed venison.

GMMAT, just so you know, when I said it could be frowned upon, I'll be in that group with you.

So if I filled your freezer with Venison every year, would you give up hunting. There are alot of other things you can do to enjoy the outdoors, and you wouldnt need the meat. Or would you still feel the want to hunt? If so, it could only be for the "kill".
