Default Kodiak Deer Hunt Updated w/ more pics

Just got back from a 4 day hunt on a commercial trawler. The two of us hunting with bows got blanked but the other guys were able to connect with rifles. Pretty slim pickings in this area this year. Five years ago a trip like this would have easily netted 20 bucks. Over hunting and a couple bad winters in a row really put the smack down on this herd. We covered over a hundred miles of coastline to turn up 3 bucks.

Good stuff Rob! Man, those photos bring back some good memories. Yeah, I heard the deer took a beating over the winter. Is it true the winter kill was like 60%?

60% for two years in a row in some places. A lot of spots are just now recovering and if this winter isn't harsh we should have some real good mature 3.5 y/o + trophies again next year.

Probably less work than any hunt I've been on except for maybe a couple 2 minute turkey seasons I've had.It was mostly riding around in the mothership glassing the hillsides and beaches then running in with the skiff and shooting them.
