I have always used fixed and probably always will. They have always work for me .Just wouldn't trust a mechanical on elk .

It doesn't matter how fast just how much KE.

i agree with big john. on the other hand i shoot 294 fps and use mechanicals. i could'nt get the 100 grain 3 blade muzzy's to shoot acurate enough. but i think i would limit the mechanicals to 250 fps or higher.
