I have chosen challenge over excess. I need nothing more than my own happiness to keep me hunting,it is a seldom day that I could not kill a deer .I choose to hunt more and kill less.:)

Is huntinga giraffe from a tree stand really fair chase.;)

Let's keep distracting from the Africa vs NA theme, who cares really....You go hunt that continent and Ill hunt this one (or vice versa), both offer challenges, unique in there own way. Neither is more impressive than the other, just different.

My mindset is the different environments in the US. They are totally different deer, and you can do DIY hunts that dont cost that much. Africa just doesnt entice me, at all. I hope to complete the NA slam before I die, just not the world slam.

Jeff, that statement is really what the escence of this post is to me. That is to say, itshouldn't matter to Huck (and I'm sure it doesn't) what I think about shooting a Zebra because I am surehe gets as much satisfaction as I do from shooting a whitetail. Itshouldn't (and doesn't)matter to me if someone thinks hunting whitetails is boring or old hat because to me it isn't. All that should matter is that it's done legally and ethically and that the guy spending the dough is happy wherever that is.
