RE: Arrow Flinging Meltdowns. How Many?

I've emptied my quiver more than once on a deer. The 8pointer I took in November of '07....I shot at 4 times. First shot spined him. Second shot was a whiff from 25yds as he was dragging himself by his front legs. 3rd shot hit him from 35yds in the rear ham. 4th shot (he was still moving) hit him square in the vitals from 50yds.....and he died in 3-4 seconds from there. Total elapsed time was inside 20-30 seconds.
In a case like that. I would say thats acceptable because you didnt rush your shot. You hit him just not the spot you wanted. Thats a completely different stroy.

Count me in....I had a meltdown. Three arrows, not a drop of blood. Ain't proud of it, but I am big enough to admit it.

PS nissan300ztt for President in 2012. We could use some perfection in the white house.

Nissan how many arrows have you split? If you were perfect you could sit there and split arrows every shot, untill that day you my friend are not a perfect shot. Why are you still hunting if you dont get excited when you see deer, that would take all the fun and passion away from hunting. where is the skill envolved with hunting tame deer that would be like shooting cows.

Ive never had my nerves get to me..My dad rest his soul, before we ever went hunting the first time he told me my nerves would be rattle first time I saw a deer. And my first deer yes they did but after that, nothing. Seeing buck around my area isnt weird they walk up to you here in the POCONOS because people feed them. So the deer here arent afraid. I was washing my car and deer walk with 10 feet of youthey think youre going to feed them.
so uh, is that how you get em so close? show em a handfull of corn?

and my friend, if you dnt get excited then i feel you need to get out of the game

I havent missed a deer in 11 years of hunting. But im also not die hard,I dont HAVE to kill a deer or I wont be able to eat. Plus I practice shooting from 10-40 yards, never take a shot over 30 yards. And if the shot is tough I wont take it. Im a more ethical hunter. And I dont shoot deer too young or to old. So if you ask NO IVE NEVER MISSED. But I guess some guys just take whatever shot they can. Whether it be a poor shot or an unlucky shot. "I never trust luck to be on my side." Id rather know the shot I make is gonna kill the deer. Plus I use a very quiet bow, BOWTECH/DIAMOND/DARTON. And I do everything I can to keep the bow quiet. Always check my equipment and keep it tuned and ready to go. And people give me stress about being the way I am. But I am a perfectionist. And every buck I have ever taken is a shooter. I dont use "scent-lok or scent blocker" and 2008 was the first year I shot from a stand I normally stalk my deer and get 15-30 yards away and call them in. You call it what you want. But I got my buck for 2008. And I got my bear tag for 2008 and I will get one of those.
I believe you've truly CURSED yourself with this post. You must obviously be one heck of a "stalker" to stalk within 15-30yds of deer, because the deer in my area wouldn't allow you that opportunity very often if ever, and the ones you may do that to would be yearlings.

Where I hunt the deer are used to seeing people. Im sure If I went somewhere the deer were timid and not used to seing people then it would make the job tougher. But yes, the poconos deer are used to seeing people they will even walk up to you to see if you have food.

Kind of takes the "HUNT" out of it don't it???? What do you call them with a bag of chips???

Back to the original topic, I flung a few tonight myself. I swung and missed, then out of frustration thought I'd made a GOOD SHOT, instead punched one in the head!!!! Ended up with a finisher when I realized he wasn't dead. SCHIT HAPPENS, trust me. And I had what felt like an almost "perfect" shot on the release. [:@]
