Well I think I posted at least 3 mature bucks on the prowl in the daytime.. And second the number of car vs deer accidents have droped off to almost 0. I am a trooper and I patrol over 100 miles of interstate every day, and I work with 50 guys whom do the same. I keep tab on the deer movement with the guys and gals I work with, and the
amount of car vs deer accidents that we have. And I am here to tell you the rut was last week here in Mercer County. Other parts of the state I have no idea.
My deer was aged at 5.5 and he grossed Pope & Young at 176 and some change.

Great pics.
But... peak of the rut due to one cameras placement... I don't think so.
I'd bet money on other contributing factors playing major roles as well.
Great pics none the less.

Guys I guess only time will tell. I know the warmer weather and the 1000's ofacers of standing corn here in the NW killed some of the best bow hunting. I look forward to seeing how things pan out. I will keep track of mature buck sightings and the numbers of car vs deer we have.

Just some food for thought...I went back and jotted down all mature buck sightings duringshooting hours to see if there was indeed a spike in daytime activity. Before you guys jump on me NO I do not consider 3.5 year old bucks mature. However, they are upper age class bucks in my area and are not that plentiful so I included them.
11/11- 2:32pm/3.5 (8ball)
11/12- 7:00am/5.5 (Jordan)
11/13- 6:15am/5.5 (Jordan), 1:00pm/3.5 (8ball), 2:30pm/4.5 (Whitey). 4:15pm/4.5 (Whitey)
11/14- 12:30pm/5.5 (Jordan)
11/15- 3:45pm/3.5 (High Tines)
So there were 3 (3.5) sightings occuring between 11/11 and 11/15. The statistic I believe is eye opening is the fact that there were 5 (4.5+) sightings and all occured from 11/12-11/14. Also note that 50% of these 8 sightings occured between 12:30 and 2:30 and this woods is veryyyyyyyy open, virtually no underbrush at all. So if you guys take anything away from this post....HUNT THE MIDDAY DURING THE RUT!!!
