I shot a doe on Monday morning. I was actually rattling when I was looking left and right to see if anything was responding. I looked behind me and a doe was just on the other side of the fence looking a bit alarmed. I stopped rattling and watched the doe. She jumped the fence and started walking down the trail I take to my stand eating a little bit on the way. She walked directly underneath me. I could see her eyelashes. As she passed under me, she turned to the left and started walking away from me... I drew back. She was at about 10 yards... but I am 16 feet up in the tree, so it was a pretty steep angle. She was quartering away, I put my pin about halfway back on her body so it would exit behind her front left shoulder. Imust of flinched when I let it go or I just misjudged my pin...... I hit her right between her spine and her right hip. I actually said out loud "CRAP" I felt so bad. However immediately after the hit blood poured out of her and she trotted about 15 yards fell down and died, in less than 10 seconds. My quickest kill and worst shot (besides a miss). The rage sliced her femeral artery and that was all she wrote. It poked about an inch into the stomach but the gutting was very clean and simple. I am very impressed with the hole and the blood trail was rediculous even though I didn't need to follow it, as I saw the deer die. My arrow also fell out after about 10 yards and was in perfect shape other than needing a cleaning. Thanks Rage.
