Default So was she not in Heat?

I hunted from the ground today, where I seen my first rut action yesterday. I didnt see a single deer, but I could see the field that my other stand was ajoined too and another field beside of it. And sure enought thats where the deer were.

Immediatley upon glassing them I see two bucks fighting. It was awesome, they couldnt have been big at all, I really couldnt see much of any horns. But they were going at it, there was also a doe in the field with them, which explains the fight.

So the buck that gets his butt kicked, Runs off, but to the doe!? He checks her, she takes a few get away from me trots and Both the bucks leave? So was she not it heat?

Yeh I though of that too, but the way she looked from as far away as I was... She couldve been a fawn.

I thought it was odd that the loser got to check her and the winning buckdidnt even seem to care she was there.[8D]

Fawns get bred, too.

Check her tarsals. That's the only way I know to diecern....and even that probably isn't sure-fire.

I know they get bred, but late,(learned a fewdays ago in another thead)which made me think she wasnt in heat, yet. And she was way to far for me to see and tarsals.

Why do you think they get bred, late? I've heard the same thing....but an early born fawn is still on the same timing as a late born fawn (period in which it takes for her to be able to go into estrous).

Maybe I'll learn something.
