Default What a week

Arrowed adoe onNov 3 anice 8pt onNov 7, another doe on Nov 11 and this 6pt today Nov 12.I'm done now as my 2 bucks are the limit but I can keep on doe hunting but if I do I know what will happen, the biggest buck of my life will be broadside at 20 yrds and I wouldn't be able to release. Anyway, this morning I had a doe bed down 20 yrds to my left but before she decided to take a rest I was at full draw on her and let down deciding not to take her. When she bedded down I thought she would alert me to anything happening that I hadn't seen developing and that she did. After a while she started staring intently into the woods to my right and just behind me.I turned and 6 mature does were right there on the other side of the creek at 25 yrds. I drew on one but my arrow came off the rest so I let down and redrew promptly sending the arrow to the forest floor below me. While cussing I fetched another arrow but the gig was up, I was spotted but the one that spotted me only became spooky so there was no shot. Shooting at a spooked deer is a no win situation. So now I peer over to see if the bedded doe is still there and yep sure enough she is onlythis time she has her attention clearlyfocused back behind me again but slightly to the right so I turn and see a buck coming down the creek with an arrow stuck init. I turn all the way around to get readycause he would passby at 20 yrds and I had already made the decision to take him out because I didn't want the buck wandering around with an arrow in it. He displayed no problems but the PR would be a nightmare as many people use the powerline and might catch a glimpse of him. I nail him at 20 yrds and off he goes on his death run. The arrow that was in him fell out and he piled up 40 yrds down thecreek from a passthru the heart shot. I recovered the arrow that was stuck in him and it turned out to be a bolt from a crossbowwith an expandable head. My guess is it was done this morning by the freshness of the wound.

And the exit is the one on the bottom with the hole on top from the bolt.

You didthe right thing. Too bad you had to burn your second buck tag on a deer you would normally not have taken. The ethics displayed here are selfless and commendable!

Congrats on the buck and I would definitely shoot any deer that had an arrow sticking out of it too!
