dang Gary! thats a scary thought!! glad you walked outta the woods!

sounds like you escaped a "widow maker" as they are referred to....old timer taught me to never walk under one even if i gotta go somewhat out of my way around it...when i was younger and foolish, i would knock em down for fun...but im wising up....

thats one of the reasons i will not hunt in stiff winds...anything above 20mph or so has me in side..chances are slim...but ive been so close that when the tree fell in the creek i got wet...ive had more than 1 hunters share of close calls, all wind related...just been within sight of it more times than id like to... i simply dont wanna be in a treestand when its windy...no reason to risk my life over a danged ole deer...

First of all I want to say I'm glad you are ok. But, I couldn't help from laughing out loud about the way you put it in your story. Seriously, what are the odds of that happening??? I hope you get Mr. Mass. You sure do deserve it.

Holy crap!! I've never even seen a dead tree fall in the woods much less had one come down on me. I'm glad your ok Gary, talk about a close call, wow!

So, this begs the question..... If a tree falls ON YOU in the woods, does it make noise?

After walking by a dead tree I though I heard something. I turn a bit and by pack bumped the tree. The tree the started to full, my normal panther like reflexes were shaken a bit. As I was just plain stunned as whatwas happing. About half way up the tree snapped and the top half took me out like one of BigJ71 guns. It's especially scary when you go into a place you've never been and climb up a tree. Daylight comes and you find the busted off top hanging over your head.[&:]
