at 3 yards, you do not need to look through your sights. just look down you arrow.

I practice aiming down my arrow at short distances off the ground. In my case it is more for the turkeys, though.

On my old bow, I would use my 40yd pin at 5yds. Can't say I ever shot 3yds [8D]
I only have a 20yd pin now....so can't use my 40yd pin now
I agree with Kodiak....guess maybe I should try it out on my current bow. Of course I've never had a shot that close before, 8-10yds is about as close as I've ever taken.

I have one pin and I use it all the way out to my max range of 40 yds. At every 5yd increment, I know how high or low my arrow hits. It's not a bad idea to know wherethe poiis exactlyat various distances.

I shoot in my garage at night all the time, at 15 feet I use the 30 yard pin. I print out a target that has 20, 1/4" dots to aim at so I don't ruin my arrows.

That's why i posted this one. Seems like we have varying opinions. So, i know shooting a deer from the ground at 3 yardsdoesn't happen often, but it happened to me.
Give it a few minutes when you practice next. You might be surprised.
